Google appears to be playing what they believe is a high stakes game with Facebook. While many are writing off the battle as nothing more than a minor kerfuffle over the geeky topic of “data portabilityâ€, we believe Google has timed this perfectly to coincide with the launch of Google.me in the coming weeks. Can't really say how Google.me affects the Social Club and Facebook. We'll see what happens. As long as there is Mafia Wars then I'm good with either Google Me or Facebook. lol
Well there has been rumors that Google is investing in Zynga so that may be a good move for them. http://articles.cnn.com/2010-07-12/tech/google.zynga.games_1_google-buzz-mafia-wars-zynga?_s=PM:TECH
Google or google me or whatever they come up with will have a tough time competing with facebook. I would be surprised if google makes anything of it. I doubt it will spark a global war with facebook. Google we all know for search, tools, mail, and webmaster type of thing. The social networking market has been facebook's market for some time know. Google is not out of the question, but I don't think people think of google in that manner, right now anyway. Things change so you never know. Google is feeling some heat and perhaps threatened by facebook. If facebook were smart they could take a bigger bite into google than they think. I don't know if that will happen or if they are smart enough, but possible. Facebook lacks a lot of additional things that google has built up and offered for free over the years. If facebook could learn to do similar and smartly they might have a chance at over throughing the giant we know as Google. Facebook is making cash, but google seems to have a bigger nest egg than facebook at this time. I don't count them out. I wish they would put more pressure on Google, but bottom line is I don't think either are that trust worthy and need major privacy updates and/or disclosures. I wouldn't be surprised if both have some kind of tie to a government agency. Best of luck to them both, competition is always good. Who knows who the winner will be.
I agree with you at some point, but when talking about privacy, we have to look at both sides equally. Maybe Facebook is the "dumb" guy letting his info leak here and there, having security issues all over... on the other hand, Google is the one stealing info here and there... so, which one do you prefer? If Facebook decides, for example, to launch a SE what will happen?...
Google is on the attack. I use facebook quite a bit but google is till my main marketing tool. Personally I think there is enough internet for the both of them.
