Is My Site In The Dreaded Google Sand Box?

I have a site that's not showing up in the Google search results at all.

When I type the sites main keyword into Google I'm returned a list of only 63 pages. Going through all the pages from 63 to 1, I can't see my site anywhere.

If I type the URL of my site into Google it does appear so my site is indexed but it's not showing up in the search results for my keyword.

The site's just over 3 weeks old but the funny thing is, I have another sites that was built around the same time & optimised the same way. My other site is ranking quite well & is stable.

Do you think my site's sand boxed?

Or maybe just taking time to be properly listed?

How competitive are the keywords for Blog 1 which has already started to rank and Blog 2 which is still nowhere to be found?

Does your site appear in the top position when you search for your domain using "site:www.yourdomain.com"?

I think he had already mentioned that his website is already indexed.

Indeed - hence my ranking question. Given the site is indexed, it ought to appear in SERP position #1 when searching for the domain - any lower position may indicate an imposed penalty.

Barry06: having thought about this, could you search for your domain (rather than site:... as I suggested earlier) and let us know what position your site appears in?

PS: Wouldn't it be good if search engines allowed you to confirm directly whether a penalty has been imposed. We are shortly launching a campaign for this.

True, but I'm also thinking about the competitiveness of the keywords that he's chosen, and it is most likely that blog 1 and blog 2 are not in the same niche.

    Thanks for the replys.

Both sites are physical products so they are not very competitive. I would say that my site that is ranking well is a little less competitive than my site that's not ranking at all. But by very little.

Yes - If I type site: them my URL, my site appears at the top position.

Typing my site into Google without “site:” brings up the following results...

I'll give my site the name of theappliance.org.uk for this example.

Showing results for appliance.org.uk. Search instead for thetheappliance.org.uk

Typing in my exact URL Google display this message above the results. The results show my competitor in position on 1 to 4 & my site shows in position 5.

The only difference in my domain name to my competitors is that I have the word “the” at the beginning of the domain name.

For my site that's ranking well the results are the same. My competitor shows up in position 1 to 3 & my sites is in position 4. Again the only difference in domain name is that I have “the” at the beginning of the domain name.

I completely agree if we are imposed a penalty then we should know about it some how, after all I'm not a spammer & I'm doing everything as white hat as possible so I should be made aware if I've done something wrong so I can fix it.

Do you have set up a GWT for your website? Then again, I recall that your website is just 3 weeks old. Quite new and still a little early to expect much from it.
