Thread that I didn't create? No, literally!

So, I just had a thread created under my username which I literally didn't create. Do the mods have the power to create a thread as my username when I really didn't intend to create such a thread?
Here is the mentioned thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1997092

I am kind of wondered to see my reported stuff in a form of separate topic. Please excuse me if I am not familiar with DP rules properly, but is it a kind of infraction?

    -----------------------------------
    Here is the background story:

I used to think, that any stuff over $5 is supposed to be out of the "Cheap Stuff" forum. So, I just went ahead and reported a thread to be placed in right section. I was under impression, that I am doing something good for DP itself, what a fool I was. With that being said, I really apologize if I violated any rule while reporting while reporting and will really appreciate any mod/admin, if he would please hint me about the violation. I will be more careful from now on when reporting any thread or post.

I really don't think that the MODs should/have the power to make a separate topic which was never created by the original user. Finally, since I apologized, can I request to delete that thread (Followed by deleting this thread too)? Or at least, an explanation on what I did wrong by reporting a mis-placed thread?

It's impossible for a thread to be created by your username unless you did it. If it happened, someone has your password, and I would change it.

Shawn did you take a look at the thread? Maybe some mod accidentaly moved it from the reports forum to the webhosting forum?

Hey Shawn, how are you doing? Well, it doesn't seem to be a password hack case rather it seems an action to be done by a person with appropriate powers, a.k.a moderator.

    @Helvetti
If that's the case, it's really a lousy moderating job. Reportings are never supposed to be publicized.

Even if it is, I PMed the responsible moderator clearly indicating this issue, he did read the PM (Confirmed PM receipt), still didn't pay attention to it? Let alone correcting the error and apologize. Now, as the time is passing by, more and more peoples are getting aware of something which was originally intended to be seen by authorities only; defeating the whole purpose of this "Report" feature.

All in all, making errors is not a crime (we all are human and do it), but neither correcting it nor replying to it even after getting pointed out, is truly a snob behavior and really dis-appointing to expect from a person having responsibility of a busy and beautiful forum as DP. It's really a dis-appointing behavior and I don't feel very well to do posts anymore - or even continue.

Looks like a reported post was moved by accident into the wrong forum (we use a forum to deal with reported posts). Just a mistake caused by someone working quickly.

How do you know who did it? Perhaps the mod you Pm'd was extremely busy and forgot to reply or simply added the report to the queue for dealing with in due course?

That's entirely up to you of course. What I can tell you is this is a very, very, very rare mistake and one you are unlikely to ever see again.

Because it contained the assigned moderator's comments in the reporting thread, with him saying why did/didn't he move it.

In any case, I realized that I was just a "chosen one" by unfortunate chain of events. I also realized, that nothing was intended since the assigned mod himself cleared the situation to me and apologized for it. I too am sorry for any in-convenience caused by me. Complaint retracted with a :-D

    Happy Ending!

(With that being said, this thread has done it's job, so delete it?)

with respect, if you post in a thread but a mod moves it to its own thread then the original poster appears to have created the thread.

What we can't do is create posts in your name.

Yeah... I didn't see the thread they were talking about (was on my cell phone). Technically it's the user that created the reported post thread, although they never (at least shouldn't) see it. :)
