In the past I would simply judge competition on the number of results for a keyword, or by the number of backlinks the top 5 websites ranking for that keyword had. After beating a website with 800 backlinks to the top spot, while my site only had 150 backlinks, I realise that the number of backlinks in yahoo site explorer really doesn't accurately gauge competition. I also am ranking on the second page for a keyword with over 4,500,000 million results and 2,240,000 without even intending to. So how can I accurately gauge competition?
For analysing the competition, checking the number of search results is one of the very basic but important thing to do. You can check the number of results with the search term in page title buy using allintitle: syntax for Google. Number of domains with keywords used in them also play an important role in determining the competition. Out of all of the above factors, the age of the site, content quality, keyword density, etc. also matter a lot.
There is no magic tool for checking competition. You need to run a search then individually look at each of the top 5-10 websites listed, look at their links with either an analysis tool, or use site explorer to manually look at their top links. Then you can see how easy they will be to beat.
Hi there I have tried a tool called market samurai I use it all the time it gives a great all round picture, it has a few problems but has been the most convenient for me , (not trying to sell it !) I hope that this helps
Alexa is of good help. You can get a clear picture with alexa toolbar about your competitors. And there are other tools available online. Compare them and then use.
so simple man .........just see the newspaper and look in the internet or television about the competition program that you explain among seminar but also important to seeing the meeting programs
keyword competition depends on various factor like Monthly search volume , exact competition on this keyword ( search and put this keyword on "") and their mathematics calculation, Website age, quality content on website.
