Hi everybody, I have noticed that in all the datacenter Page Rank getting Rolling back and as well as back link for a websites. please put your views and ideas. sandy
Matt posted in his blog that it was a 'real' update but it wouldn't export to all of the datacentres for a couple of months
I can even see my pr waiting to be assigned on google webmaster tools and it will just be staying there for another 3 or so months. How can google base there search stuff on pr when its not updating more regularly.
There is something wrong with this pr update. My pr 5 site keeps dropping to zero, then back to five, then to zero again. There is absolutely no reason for it to go to zero. Right now about half the dc's are zero, the others are five. But that keeps changing too, yesterday most were fives, the day before most were zero. Very irregular. Luckily I don't care with this site, don't much care about pr either, just happened to notice because of my google toolbar.
we had the same issue.... some of our pages went up to 3 and then back down to 0. and our indexed pages keep yo-yo-ing around as well from day to day. Very VERY strange and frustrating.
My site has been PR1 for about 6 months and has not budged an inch with this update, although I have increased backlinks and content etc. Why?????
You can't, all future PR tools are guesses, if they get it right they're lucky guesses. Then it's PR0 on some datacentres and PR5 on others. It depends on which DC you're pulling your PR data from at any point in time. Whichever of those PR values your site was before is what it'll end up at in a couple of months time. Again, same DC issue, you can check all DCs here, www.yourcache.com
??? Okay, now you've got me confused. So are you saying that if your site was a 0 before the update and now the DC's are flashing 5's and 0's, that your site will still be a zero when this update is thoroughly finished?? That's what I got from your statement somehow...
Exactly, and quite typical these days for Google. Some of my sites have not moved, and other have been bouncing around between 0 and unrealistic highs. This is not a properly functioning system. It is just toolbar PR, there is no sensible reason that Google would *intend* for this to happen for something trivial like toolbar PR. Honestly it just looks amateur. I am sure it is an enormously complex system, but to the average web surfer or webmaster it is just bad form to have PR values fluctuating on a regular basis.
Yes it is a real update. http://digg.com/tech_news/Whats_going_on_in_Google_Update_land_And_how_to_get_out_ahead_of_the_game
The reason is because there are multiple datacenters (mirrors of google) with different data until they are all "updated" just be patient until they are all finished updating.
The toolbar PR is nothing to do with the PR that google use. The toolbar is an approximate snapshot of the real PR as it was in July.
mad, can you please explain then what is the toolbar pr about? how is it calculated? according to you its independent of DCs
It's calculated the same as realtime PR, but we just get to see old data. About 6-8 weeks old in this case. It's being recalculated in realtime constantly though.
