I think this will be a good move in attempting to create a better competitor for google.

What do you think about it ?
How do you think will affect your and your sites?

...and what should we do about it?

The merger doesn't really mean that yahoo and bing will come together to make a better SE. It means Yahoo is abandoning its SE in favor of Bing's. So its up to Microsoft to develop a better SE that can compete with Google. Last I checked I was still getting varied search ranking results for Yahoo and Bing so I reckon the migration isn't complete. I think by next year we'll start to see the same results for both...

No, Yahoo its not dying, it's just merging with Bing and it might be a good move, for all of us.
Maybe we will get better traffic. As we know, two is always better then one ;)

I was wondering if their webmaster tools will look more like Bing's or more like Yahoo's...i hope they will keep the siteexplorer from yahoo and will use Bing's database.

who knows? maybe someone from Yahoo or Bing can bring us some light over here :)

    Cheers guys&girl !

i'm sure yahoo will not overcome google, but for sure they will get at least #3 if we count facebook beeing #2 by now ( btw, facebook will open e-mail registration pretty soon, if they haven't done it yet)

anyway, i hope this merge will provide more accurate SERP

Good move ? This only shows the crisis faced by the two sites, which are long at the back of Google, and more recently, Facebook. Even those two sites together can't beat the supremacy of Google, who's obviously dominating the web now.

As search engines, in my opinion, both Bing and Yahoo! fail. Bing has no relevance in SERP at all, and Yahoo! it's basically a directory, with very low search speed and also a lack of results.

And as far as I know, this was only a speculation, usually said to influence the companies shares value at the market.

Yahoo search won't make may any improvement since it's sold to Microsoft. Though bing is growing faster than Google it still has a long way to go.

If ever the connivance will take place I think Google already planning on how to counter this. But for me Google still the best.

Google is still the best source of traffic for most people. But for me, my source of traffic is Bing and I could say I am happy with the results.
