Auction Web Site For Review

Discussion in 'Websites' started by Mia, Nov 28, 2004.

Hello all. We have developed an online Auction Site (kinda eBay style) to compliment a group of Hobby sites for McCoy Pottery (not that that will mean much to many here). I am just interested in comments, suggestions, and any problems with the over all look and functionality of the site. I have spent quite a bit of time on it, and am really curious about what others think.

    Thank you!

As a lover of antiques, I think the idea of a McCoy auction site should really appeal to McCoy collectors and sellers.

Site looks nice. See you already have members. Let us know how it progresses but it looks positive to me.

Well, we have about 3300 members in our mailing lists and site at http://mccoypottery.com which has been around for almost 8 years now, so we at least have some base to draw from. I would imagine most of the sign ups for the auction site are coming from members within. I am impressed though with how quickly we are seeing interest.

    Thank you for the compliments!

Looks ok, but in Chrome (the browser I'm using) the style is messed up. The sections on the left and right don't line up with the top section. It might be a good idea to make the top section a bit wider anyway. 960 is the typical page width for most people now, rather than the old 800

You can use a sub-domain! But why you are not using a main domain ? ?

Er, I am. The site is rather complex and composed of server different areas.

So what you are all saying is "forums.digitalpoint.com" should not be using a sub-domain? Using this logic.

There's nothing wrong with using subdomains. That's why they are there. So you can break you main site down into easily found and spelled sub-sites that are comprised of the original domain name.
