Why most of major websites use there own hosting, instant of using web hosting service company which is much cheaper for maintenance cost??
but if you dont mind me asking some more..it's possible if i transfer all my website data from the hosting company to another hosting and all the information will still be in it,,i dont mean only website platform but also the data of the people who has registered in my website and all the updated info.
I have a feeling that once you get really big, its cheaper. Also they don't strictly use your 'own hosting', I'd say a lot of larger sites have their own machines at a colo. You have to be REALLY big to buy/rent your own building, build a server room, fill it with racks of servers and get a huge connection to the internet. I'll stick with my nice little VPS in the meantime, while it is still sufficient for our needs it is just fine.
Thanks everyone for answering my question, im still new with this, you guys help me a lot Also sorry with my grammar im not an english native speaker but im trying my best.
Security may be an important reason, of course, if website hosters use their own hostings, it would be more convenience for maintaining the websites, because they can deal with everything about websites by themselves.
It's really for cost, and because they outgrow other solutions. Growth lifecycle: 1) shared hosting -- no administrative knowledge needed 2) get kicked off shared hosting, or asked to reduce resource use 3) upgrade to vps, low end dedicated server -- server administration knowledge needed 4) after learning to manage your own server, why bother hosting with someone else? either get unmanaged dedicated servers, or colocate 5) continue adding unmanaged dedicated servers until you notice that your hosting bill is rather high 6) in order to save money on hosting, a site that knows it will be around for a while may decide to colocate servers. Vtunnel has something like 40 colocated servers. I don't know how much of a discount a web host would really provide if I needed 40 servers, compared to hosting them myself
