I'm not sure you can find a vps with 512 mb RAM at less than $5 .... i'm afraid you can't find for less than $15. Or, if you find that, be careful about the company, do some researches on the web.

It's a reasonable price if you want a decent server as operating as the host, a good network, and properly trained support.

That's one of the issues with VPSs that hosting companies keep secret, and buyers haven't latched onto yet. Buyers of VPS very (very) rarely ask about the host server(s) that runs the VPS and whether all sites operate on the server or on a SAN, because they're too busy concentrating on their CPU, RAM, and disk space.

The fact is the VPS host could be a low-end piece of junk which might be cheap for the hosting company - cheaper prices to VPS buyer or more profit for host - but they will never get a good performance for it.

I doubt Servint are using low-end hardware so their prices are more than reasonable.

I know, but I wasn't answering that particular post.

If an answer to the OP is necessary, then all I can say is "good luck" as his expectations exceed his budget. If he does find such a package then they'll be needing more than good luck - more like a miracle - if it all goes well for more than a few weeks.

You might want to increase your budget. You're not going to find a reputable VPS provider offering 512mb ram for $5 / mo or less.
