One of my friends is hosting his site on dreamhost, and he has just bought a Norwegian domain .no from a Norwegian registrar. Do you know if it's possible for him to use the domain on dreamhost or any other service provider (other than the Norwegian)? Is it all about dns?

    Thanks.

should be. Its just adding nameservers to the domain.

I've seen issues before though with certain registrar not liking if the nameservers are in the same IP range. Other then that.. most should work fine with zero issues.

Yes, doesn't matter from where you purchased the domain name. The DNS is capable of accepting any domain extension if no filter is set.

That will work fine, as long as you point the domains to the correct server, the DNS wlil take care of itself.
