Well it turns out my post asking people to fill out a short survey did not just diappear due to a technical error but it was deleted. Firstly why was I not notified this was the case? Secondly I have now recieved an infraction for posting it a second time because it is a 'Inappropriate / Disallowed Post' Could someone tell me why? I have read the rules and cannot see anything in there about posting surveys? It was on conversion rates, something very appropriate for this forum and I also intended on posting some findings on here for the good of everyone. What is wrong with that?
Yes, sometimes the threads just gets deleted without any notice. I don't know about the survey though, did you get paid for people filling in the survey or was it just to collect information?
Lol ok well hopefully they mods will just delete the thread then. Only posted it here as this is where my thread was removed from and I didnt see the suggestions and feedback sub-forum. Problem is there are sooo many sub and sub-sub forums on here its hard to find the most appropriate place to post things!!
Just to collect information, I am the owner of the survey. There was a prize draw attached the survey, basically people could put their email address in at the end if they wanted to enter a draw for a $50 prize. Still, I would have thought that would be ok as its pretty standard to have a prize draw as an incentive for people to fill it in.
lol now I have been given a warning for creating a duplicate thread!! I cant win! If I had just left that other thread in the wrong place then I would have probably got some form of infraction for posting it in the wrong place. I try to avoid that by posting in here and asking a moderator to remove the thread in the wrong place (since I am unable to do that myself) and I still get a warning. Unbelievable really. I wouldnt mind if the setup of the forum was clear so it was obvious where to post things but its not - there is far far too many sub-forums cluttering the place up. Since this is the feedback forum I would like to suggest that you combine a few forums or section them out better so its more obvious where to post things or you provide users with the ability to remove their own threads so that when they make an honest mistake they can easily rectify it without incurring an infraction. So as well as the survey question I asked in the beginning could someone also explain to me to correct procedure to follow if you make an honest mistake and post a thread in the wrong forum?
Use the report post function - triangle, bottom left of post - if a mod gets to the report it will just be moved with no infraction (if appropriate). If, however, a mod happens to come across the post while trawling for problem posts you might get an infraction.
No that would be a poll then not a survey. I have a multiple question survey all set up in survey gizmo about website conversion rates. Why am I not allowed to post a link to that survey to ask people to help me out and fill it in for me? I'm happy to share the results on the forum as I think it would be interesting for many people.
Mainly because we get bombed with spam with people asking everyone to take their survey, when their survey is in fact one of the affiliate systems where users earn money by getting people to take surveys. That's the short version of why it's not allowed.
Ok thanks for the reply. Is there any way around this? Say by getting a moderator to approve the survey once they have checked to confirm its not a paid to complete one? Just could really do with your help on this as other forums I have posted it on are nowhere near as active as DP so I have struggled for responses! Also if you have a complete ban on surveys shouldnt that be put in the forum rules? I did check the rules before posting and saw no mention of it - had it have been in there I would have avoided getting an infraction!
