What is keyword density?

Hi,
I have seen this word many times while reading but I don't know the exact meaning of it.
What is keyword density and how it is important in SEO?

 

Keyword density is the formula used for the content optimization of the particular keyword what to rank high in search engines.

(Total number of repeated words/Total number of words)*100

 

It is the percentage on the keywords appears in a particular content to the total number of the words in that content .i am not sure but 4 to 5% keyword density% is preferable for SEO.

 

actually I recommend use a keyword density ratio in the range of 2-8%, and put your targeted main keywords

keywords density is the repetition of keywords .

 

It is defined as a percentage of the total word count on a web page, or how many times certain words appear within the total body of the article (web page). The keyword density on that page is figured by simply dividing the total number of keywords, by the total number of words that appear on your web page.
The accepted standard for keyword density is between 3% and 5%, so to get recognized by the search engines and you should never exceed it and you would want to have a 3% density at the minimum.

 

the total percentage of repeated keyword/words in your website. probably many people have different method for density but i think density should not more then to 3.7% to 5%

yeah you certainly don't want to have too much keyword density as it counts against you in SEO terms. There are are number of free sites online that you can google that will tell you the keyword density of any page
