Selling Established Site: ImageViper.com - PR4 Fully custom coded/designed Image Hosting Site

Discussion in 'Sites' started by cyphix, Nov 2, 2010.

Site is fully professionally designed (even the viper character was custom drawn & designed) & was custom programmed by myself - it DOES NOT use any image hosting script you can download anywhere, has been fully custom programmed.

The site has 6324 registered members, of which 4469 have activated their account; this is made up of 4280 free users & 50 paid users - these paid accounts automatically recur each month through Paypal unless canceled - many many members have been members for years.

The site currently uses about 12GB of storage space on the server.

    Admin Stats Panel:

The site contains an admin stats panel where you can see things such as Detailed User Stats, Earning Stats, Ad Stats (Basically a counter for total image page views) & Suspicious User Reports.

The suspicious user account page helps you investigate users who may have multiple accounts (Shows IP & if that IP has logged into more than one account & what account numbers they were) within the last 30 days .. you can click on the account ID's for more info.

It also helps you check if a user may be sharing an account by showing the user ID & displaying accounts that have been logged into by more than one IP within the last 30 days & what IP's logged into the account. You can click on the IP's for more info.

    Domain:

Domain is with Moniker & is registered until August 2011.

    Please read:

If you would like to test out the sites paid features, please let me know & I will setup a test account for you.

Modifications: If you buy the site & would like some modifications/features added to the site I am available to do this for you at my usual freelance rate of $40/hour.

Site Transfer: Yes, I will be willing to help you move the site if you would like & make sure it's all running smoothly.

    Revenue Details

For the current year the site brings in an average of about $134/month from user subscriptions. There is also home page footer links sold on a 6-month or yearly basis... these are sold at $40 & $75 respectively (unless negotiated lower); with a max of 5 links being sold. All these footer links are currently sold & I have a couple others that told me to tell them when links become available again.... so this adds a little over $30/month on top of the subscriptions - so the site brings in on average about $165/month once you add the link sales on top of the subscriptions.

The only costs for the site is the hosting costs - I currently host it on a dedicated server with several other sites; the cost for this is only $59/month you could probably get away with a cheaper VPS plan to increase your revenue.

You may notice the site has a "supported" link on the site http://www.best-free-web-hosting.info/free_image_hosting.php -- I can't 100% remember how I got that now, but I don't pay anything for it now & as long as you keep the button in the footer the link will stay there.

    Paypal screenshot: http://www.imageviper.com/displayimage/159024/0/262731.jpg

Blurred line on Paypal screenshot is for a payment not related to the site.

    Traffic Details

Traffic stats vary depending on if you use Google Analytics or awstats..... the site is tracked by both.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to check the Awstats too as Google Analytics wasn't setup to track people viewing the images by themselves (direct links to the image, posting on forums, thumbnails etc) - only when the image was viewed on an actual page.

Below is the averages per month, for the current year.

    Google Analytics:

    Absolute Unique Visitors : 810.44
    Pageviews: 6455.88

I'm willing to give access to my Analytics to serious buyers so they can inspect more of the details and/or send them any particular page via my account with the "email button" inside of Google Analytics.

    Awstats:

You can view these here: http://www.imageviper.com/awstats/awstats.pl?config=www.imageviper.com

    Price

Considering all offers of 1.5k & above. BIN is $2500.

Awesome site. Just a few questions.

Whats it take to manage it daily? (I suck at linux) I'm assuming the dedicated is unmanaged?
Who do you lease the server from and is there a problem transfering to the buyer at the same rate per month?
Traffice seems to have dropped a bit over there year any reason for that?
Do you pay for any advertising?
Is there an easy way to monetize user pages/files within the script with ads?

Edit: I'm interested in making an offer

    Thanks for your time.

Actually the server is managed... yes the price seems cheap, that's cause it has been lowered a lot over time after negotiation with the host :)

There really isn't any need to have any Linux knowledge to manage the site.

As for other stuff that may need doing, well probably just some support emails..... which you will usually only get a couple a week. Sometimes the user may not have gotten the email activation email & you will just need to manually activate them via the database; which is pretty easy to do.

Also, on the rare occasion sometimes people that signup for a paid account don't click the link to go back to the ImageViper after they have confirmed their payment on Paypal..... this causes their account to not be fully updated & in this-case you would just need to validate they made the payment & update their account...... all the info you would need is stored in a log file which you can retrieve & then input into a separate script I made that will "fix" their account for you.

I will teach you to do all of this.... but if you would prefer an admin interface I would be happy to build one for you for an extra cost. :)

Server is leased from www.webair.com - I don't imagine there would be a problem keeping the same rate, but I could confirm this for you when needed.

Hmmmmm..... only thing I can think of was a few months back the site had an extended period of down time which caused some people to leave the site. This not the hosts fault, I couldn't pay my bill because of financial difficulties & they wouldn't put it back up until I had paid a couple of months that were overdue.

    Nope. :)

Hmmmmm..... if you know your way around a PHP script you should be able to figure it out easy enough, but for a standard user I wouldn't say so.

    P4 3Ghz
    1GB RAM
    110GB HD
    750GB/month bandwidth

Well I recently just found out that you apparently can't do this..... which is rather stupid.

It seems once you remove the email address from the account, any subscriptions tied to it get canceled. So all users would have to resubscribe.

So not sure if you're still interested now?

Hmmmm, I'm guessing there would be a loss in subscribers (some of them anyway) when that happens. You would think there would be an easy way to transfer them without having to do that. I still like the site just unsure about it with that issue.

Yeah I completely agree.... I searched around for answers but everyone was just saying it can't be done. What I read was a couple years old though.

Well I phoned them up but then was directed to contact "Paypal Merchant Technical Support"; no phone number for them so had to lodge a ticket on their support site for that.

However another interested buyer reckons it can't be done..... http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?p=7099582#post7099582

Just trying to be honest so you make an informed decision. :)

Well I really dont know what it's worth without the subscribers... It's not very many but without them it's not making any money so I have a hard time justifying the price you are asking. Good luck with the sale I'll still be following it :)

Hello...... well it's not like none of them are not going to resubscribe. Most of them likely will, but you'll probably lose some of them..

    Anyway...... Paypal replied with..
