Yes. There's nothing generalized or racist in that comment. I guess all Mexicans are worth less and work for cheaper than people of other races and citizenships?
Even though the tone of that post isn't very polite, the generalization (for the most part) holds true - how is it racist?
The comment is insinuating that "the Mexicans" are an inferior race. (That's a technical interpretation) I was reading an article while posting (about racism) and that's why the word came out. My main point was that the comment was grossly generalized.
I have to disagree.... Both quotes above say the same thing, in a different way. I really don't see it as being about inferior... it's just the cold hard truth...
I also don't agree w/ the manner it was presented but wages in mexico are much less then that of america, so how is it grossly generalized. They probably could build the fence for much less... Oh and on that note, I heard that it was a wall that was being built (seeing how there is already a fence in place i believe), not a fence... But aside from that, obviously we decided to get to the heart of the problem with the wall idea
I think she is just referring to the fact that most Mexicans work for less than an American. Not that they are worth less. No race is worth less, but many nations have poorer people who will work for less and BE HAPPY doing it because they ARE working and Making Money.
My statement was a joke, and I am sorry that you were not able to take it that way. PLEASE do not put words in my mouth and interpret my statement to mean "that Mexicans have no value" ..."The comment is insinuating that "the Mexicans" are an inferior race."...That is not what I feel or what I meant and I very much resent you stating that I am saying things that I did not say.
Funny I don't hear anything about MANNING THE WALL ONCE BUILT. What will this cost us? Oh, and Haliburton already was given a contract - not to build the fence - but to build detention centers across the southern border to the tune of somewhere around 300 million dollars. A little known fact. May they never be used. Disgraceful. A sane work program - period. All the rest is prejudiced - if they were red haired Scotsmen living south of the border we'd have little trouble with a day laborer program.
Actually... it's not about keeping your average "mexican" out... at least not to me. It's about keeping our country safe from smuggling bombs, drugs and "bad" people across, and a fence should only be the start.
He has positions he usually doesn't speak of...in this case, most people will generally agree with him. I actually remeber him arguing against me, in reference to this. I'm guessing he changed his mind a bit or he was just playing devil's advocate. Yo-yo works in very mysterious ways. lol
I also remember yo being on the opposite side of the issue, only a few months back. That's what was weird about it.
Its about Time! Thank God They come across the border get pregnant and become american citizens. I know im going to get red rep for this but I dont care its true!
And this affects your life how? Just curious as to why you feel someone becoming an American citizen is bad.
