When optimizing your title, I find I'm often torn between a title some is searching for and something powerful and attention grabbing. Sadly, they are often not the same thing. I know the title is the most element of a content matching article. Which title? Is it the meta title or the title of the article say in WordPress. They are not the same. Anyone know which one Google keys on? Seems to me, it should be the title in Wordpress since that's the one I want my visitors see. Seems like Google would take that as the "real" title. how much damage will I do for my ranking if I go for the keyword title in meta data and use eye grabbing for my article. Thanks!
Yeah the post title in WP is what goes in the <title> tag, so that's what you should focus on. As for keyword VS something attention grabbing: why not try and do both?
Title tag <title></title> Heading tag <h1></h1> ( h1 can be varied from h1 to h6 as the size of the heading required)
I may not have used the exact terminology. I thought that was part of the metadata? I think it was considered that baack in the olden days? Like 7 year ago? In any case, that's what I was referring to.
Not on my site. I use SEO Platinum. It allows me to use a different title than the title in my article. The title in my article gets a <h1> but that's from the theme. I guess I thought most people's setup was like that. Mind is different but this really make the answer clear to me. Google is looking at the title and the H1 as important keywords. Sometimes my wordpress title is the same as the header title. many times it isn't. My wordpress "title" is written for humans. While I tend to think more about search engines when I come up with a title for the head area. Then I use the description to try to entire the reader. I think I'll pat myself on the back for answering my own question. The two prior post did help me think about it correctly thought. Thanks!
H1 - H6 are not just for size. They dictate importance. You can set your headings to all look identical to users, but bots will still read the tags and know the difference. Title tag: <title></title> Meta title tag: <meta title="your title" /> Meta titles used to be preferred, but from my research the simple title tag is what most search engines are after these days.
using different keywords on different page is good idea, i do it when i optimize my websites. and i get its results.
Use Title tags Meta Description and H1 H2 tags are really useful and make user that the title tags should not be same with other pages..?
