    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if my main keyword has "the" in it, would it be a bad idea to have this ? i know this is a stupid question but I thought I heard something like its not going to rank well in google or something. Anyways, if you understand what im trying to get at, i would appreciate it!

"The" will not be a problem for you with the keyword, the key word you use must be unique

If that is what your keyword tool tells you, that "the+keyword" has high search traffic and low competition, go for it. Just make sure to set the match type (in Google Keywords Tool / Market Samurai etc) to 'exact'. If you leave it on 'broad' you will get insane results, SY

I have another question, if the #3 ranked site has about 37 links poiinting back to it will it easy to dominate that position. #1 ranked is a blog site, does it also matter those kind of links pointing back to that site with the low links?

There are two types of backlinks, those that point to a domain as a whole and those that point to a specific page. The links that point to a domain as a whole help to determine the overall authority of the site (in extremely simplified words) and those pointing to a certain page help to determine the authority of that page for a specific keyword or several. There is more to SEO than only backlinks, you also have to look at the quality of the backlinks in question. In general, a site that has 'only' 37 links is either easy to beat (when the backlinks are of mediocre quality) or extremely difficult to beat (when the backlinks come from high authority, high quality sites) SY

Putting the right keywords in the title of a blog post in only a tiny aspect of SEO. And the OP was clearly not referring to headlines, he was referring to more general keyword research and backlink competition, SY

To add the word "The" is great for example, if you use the keyword in a blog post title like "The best way to stop smoking" it is surprisingly higher competition then "how to stop smoking" it just depends how you play with the words.

Thank you everyone! I believe I have found keywords in which will help me out, however I guess the reason I keep stalling is because I have received different sources of good quality ways of doing this. Its hard to put everything in one and get a specific keyword that will dominate. I've taken from Dan Miller, Ryan Hatche, and market samurai team. Maybe though, there is a way to add this all up. Because I can see marketing as a formula, and it can be a simple or as hard as you make it.

Me too. I have tried Market Samurai for a trial version and it's really good, however it cost me too much money to buy that keyword tool and it's one of those I recommend. Keyword Winner, Wordtracker and Micro Niche Finder can be good options as well. :)

Dan, I will be using blogs as well as running a website. I'm still in the process of market research and have found my first decision on keywords was a no go. I missed a step in the training and will be finding everything out today

You need to buy Market Samurai, it really helps to lower the uncertainty attached to keyword research. One of the best investment you can make in IM carrier, IMHO.

If google offers free keyword research tool why would we buy market samurai? Have you bought it? I want to know the features that market Samurai has and googles keyword research tool don't.

Yes I did but it. It scraps data from Google. Market Samurai is a tool that helps you get to Golden Keywords faster and with more accuracy. Google Keyword tool just gives you the data, Market Samurai helps make more sense of it by giving you the whole picture, which is possible with Google Keyword tool also but not without pain in the neck.

For example, at just one click it gives you first 10 competitors for a keyword, with report one back links of each one of them. It also tells us what anchor texts they are using and PR of those links. Google Keyword Tool Can't do that. That's just one feature.

Another Market Samurai fan here ;-) Take the free trial, only email required, no credit card details to give away, and give it a good test run. I am using it since a year and have made my investment back easily - and more. Another good point is that Market Samurai is one off payment, a lot of other keyword tools ask for monthly payments ;-( SY
