For on page seo, I use good keywords, meta description tag, alt tags, updated content, etc. For off apge seo, I use articles to submit to article directories and submit my blogs to social bookmarking sites. There is your problem.. Ranking in Google requires link diversity... Just getting links from article directories and social bookmarking sites is not diverse... Implement more link getting strategies and you will see better results.
