I woke up today and noticed that my rankings dropped 5-15 places across the board on all my major words. I thought it was maybe just a data center issue, so I ran searches from all the G data centers and found the same results. I then compared my results in different countries on their Google counterparts, those positions held. So I be worried or this like a 1-3 day dance effect? Thanks for any input anyone has.
I have 100 sites.. and almost all of them either got dropped or big decrease in Google SERP I hope it is only a Google dance..
Thanks for chiming in guys... Makes me feel better. Hope they don't make some other crazy change to the algorithm. They seem to make it live on Saturdays and then make the announcements on Mondays. That's why I was thinking this was an issue.
I did get something from G's Web Mater tools this week telling me that a couple of URL were return soft 404s. They were just past spam forum posts that the moderators removed. That was the only thing out of the ordinary.
This happened to me last night...every single keyword dropped really far back or disappear, I thought I got penalized.
This happening all over the web and started earlier this week. This thread made me feel a ton better. http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4209872.htm
In June one of my sites took a massive hit, it has since recovered and then overshot, not sure how much of that was because I put SEO work into the site after ignoring it for years when the traffic dropped. If you're talking this last week only, that same site has had a HUGE boost in traffic and had record adsense earnings in the last week. This site is about 8 years old and has mostly DMOZ (yes, plural) and organic backlinks, so if it is an algorithm change penalising newer sites with blog and article backlinking that would explain the traffic jump. My other sites are unchanged.
This as being happening for sometime now, two of my website drop last weekend, then I believe sometime is happening in Google.
Looks like the good old pre-pagerank update Google dance to me. We are overdue for a full Pagerank update and the Google dance is more pronounced, in my experience, just before that, SY
We have a large number of sites and nearly all of them have had a traffic drop in the last 3-5 days. I hope it sorts it self out before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. :-(
