Hi Folks, I am wondering if anyone has noticed the huge increase in the number of DC of google !! Initially websites like livepr.raketforskning.com - used 79 DCs and now they show results from 199 DCs. Most of these newer DCs havent updated the PR which changed in the recently completed PR update. Has Anyone else noticed this ??
I'm not convinced all of those are seperate datacentres. It's just a theory, but I think there are several datacentres that can be accessed from similar IPs
I have got to know of only 199 as of now. I would really like to know if your 500 DC theory has a base to it.
The huge list which follows has been posted on another well-known forum. Note that more than 150 additional DCs have since been discovered - taking the total to more than 500.
You'll also notice that a lot of those IP addresses are similar. I've noticed that similar IP addresses produce similar results in terms of PR, backlinks and number of pages cached, leading to my theory that individual DCs may be accesed though different IPs and produce the same data
I disagree on this Matt - you can try it on http://livepr.raketforskning.com - and it will show that some of them show different results - though having similar IP. The ones which are new - will show the PR which a site had prior to the update - guess they have been initially fed with old data and left to be updated on their own with time. Seo Ocean
yeah.. noticed the high jump in number of dc's. matt cutts did mention that it might take 1 to 2 months for new PR to be updated on all dc's.
I think each IP is an cluster of servers, and the similar IP's (clusters) are in the same datacenter. are all you crazy thinking in 500 datacenters? it's tooo much, even for google
Yep, I have to agree, I gug this up while looking into it. http://www.mcdar.net/about-google-datacenters.htm
IPs and DCs are two different things could be 1000 IPs conn to 5 DCs only I would not say 1000 DCs or 500 DCs base on the number of IPs
Well what you say doesnt explain how PR can be different on IPs (cluster) from the same datacenter !!
MattCutts has said something to this effect in one of his videos. He also said it's "possible" a IP "may" pull results from different DC's... even on a refresh. Part of their load balancing I would imagine.
