You are wasting time on link building when you need to focus on traffic, and when you make traffic as your goal you will end up building high quality backlinks and increasing page rank at the same time. Some of you may use directory submission and blog commenting as their link building strategy but do they get traffic from this strategy. So start targeting strategies that actually generate traffic for you, post your links where it will be hit, do not care about follow and nofollow and always test your strategies, and focus on the strategies the bring the most traffic to your pages. Also try to promote your pages not only your home page. Need strategies that I have tested Reply and I may post some
Link building is not the waste of time. Links can drive traffic to us, for example forum signature links will also send some traffic.
Does It??? how many hits are you getting from forum signiture? And by the way I love forums, but only when you are in a related forum and your posts are valuable plus your site is very related to your forum posts. Only then you can get good quality incoming links and traffic
Link building is the efficient way to increase quality back links. it's not a waste of time.you can'y achieve more traffic withouy link building process.
Well, the article title is a bit misleading- getting traffic is nigh on impossible without some kind of linkbuilding. You also need to take into account that good links improve SE rankings, which means bucket loads of traffic if you hit the top few spots for your keyword. I agree though, whilst you're climbing the rankings, you can't beat topping up your traffic with some creative TG methods.
are you still living in 1997 when websites used to exchange links to get traffic, or when webmasters goal used to be placing link on high traffic sites to get some traffic ?? because after google showed up, the game changed, now u need relevant links, even if they send u 0 traffic they will propel you up in the search engines and that's how u get the real traffic.
Is that what you have understood from the post. It is wast of time to build useless links like directory submission, link exchange, blog commenting, profile pages. but it is wise use of time when you are submitting good related articles to blogs and directories, forum posts that are helpful and related social media activities and video marketing. My point is to use time wisely and I really hate it when people start to ask about nofollow and dofollow, blog comenting, lists of forum only to post a sig file, or social sites only to buil;d profile pages.
I think your points are valid you just said it in a way that people were not understanding what you were saying. I think if I am understanding correctly that what you are trying to say is that if you take the time and write relevant articles and make relevant post you will naturally gain traffic and at the same time naturally gain links because people will like what you have to say and link to it. If this is what you are trying to say then I agree.
as far as i think if you have backlink from high PR then you are more authentic source of any information as per google algorithm so if you are landing on front page of google by making backlinks you are automatically getting traffic.
Seems to me that building traffic and link building should not be mutually exclusive. One thing I don't worry too much about is whether a link I place in a blog comment or my forum signature is a "follow" or "nofollow" link. I simply try to get my links onto pages/sites with content that is relevant in some way to my site. If it is, it's likely to bring me traffic. If it is also a "follow" link it will improve my search engine ranking as well.
It is what I am trying to say, and I am sure you will agree and also Google will agree. High PR backlink is great no matter if it generate traffic or not, but when we are wasting time on PR0 backlinks. It will be better to have PR0 that can generate traffic and build authority for us as authors and for our website.
You have to start from somewhere. Link submission to directories, commenting on blogs and forums are good start. Good plan/strategy is important and I am sure in long term all of them will pays off. There is no easy way to the top. Work hard and work smart.
In my opinion Link building contributes over 80% of SEO ranking factor. Who would say it is a waste of time? Actually, your title says "wasting time on link building". You should say "wasting time on low quality link building" or "wasting time on directory submission, link exchange, blog commenting, profile links"
Link building is still relevant for SEO ranking factor. It is not waste of time if you really work on high quality link..do this consistently you'll your site climb up the SERP for sure
I don't think I would be making the affiliate money I'm making without the time I spent on link building. I agree there are good and bad (and terrible) ways to go about this. One point I strongly endorse is that you shouldn't worry about dofollow vs. nofollow links. That's where you can waste a lot of time, trying to sort out the one from the other before you will submit a link.
And having nofollow links pointing to your site makes your link profile looking natural to Google! SY
