If ezine articles or another high end directory started charging per article submission, would you pay? also, how much would you pay? is article marketing worth it? I ask because I am considering adding a small administration cost to submission on my own article directory. I spend so much time tidying up people's content I feel I earn it!
It all depends.. I would definitely pay for an article directory which is related to my niche. For example if I want a link for my mobile phone site and the article directory is well ranked in that niche, then definitely yes. I wouldn't even mind paying a $25. Otherwise there are now a lot of bloggers who offer sponsored reviews in their own niche which is well worth paying for. I'm sorry if I am negative. But this is what my opinion is.. Any criticisms welcome..
That's a difficult question. If Ezines were to start charging, then for me they would need to offer something different to what they do now. As someone who submits articles primarily for the links, Ezines is just another article directory. So I'd just remove them from my list of directories to submit to if they were to remove the free submission option. I guess if you start charging, it may drastically reduce the number of articles being submitted to your site, which would potentially enhance the value for people who are willing to pay. The problem with any decent article directory is that your article gets buried in next to no time, due to the sheer volume of articles being submitted. I have no respect for 99% of article directories (I didn't visit your one so won't comment on it). They allow any old crap to be posted, so it makes no sense to invest time in giving them decent content. If someone came up with a good directory with decent PR, tight editorial controls and the opportunity to be featured on a prominent page for more than a few seconds, I'd consider paying a nominal fee.
I wouldn't mind paying a little, maybe it would cut down on some of the article submissions giving more value to mine.
thanks for your replies, they are very helpful @muthuis depending on your niche you might wanna check out www.iphone-directory.co.uk @wimpseo i still have to accept some mediocre articles, but i get so many which are just utter crap it's not even funny. i received 3 from the same user the other day which were about 100 words long, 50% of which was just keyword stuffing. like i'm going to accept that!!
Article directories is huge now. There are a lot of dofollow article directories available for free with good ranking. If ezine start charging, then my guess is that they are trying to kill the business. Many will opt to other directories and only a small percentage that will continue using the paid system. Of course, the quality will be better and it will be only place to get premium service but as for article directories, I would prefer free because the value of article directory backlinks is not so much compared to five years ago.
I'll probably pay if they help me to distribute my articles. And if it's going to automatically approve the articles that I submit on their website.
Paying to website depends on several factors like website popularity, traffic & benefits we will be getting. What is the url of your website?
