Having $2000 (1 lakh) to start my business

i earned $2000++ from freelancing and affiliating... now i have planned to start my own big website targeting india... but i don't get any idea... first i planned to do a question and answer site, but there are lots of competition... can u please suggest me some good idea... please

 

That is a good amount of money to start a business with. However, the idea that you presently have (starting a question and answer site) is a bit outdated and as you mentioned, it has lots of competition. So try to do something productive, or to play it safe, ask for help in the partnership forum; I'm sure there are lots of creative ideas from people who do not have the money to bring the idea to life. lol 8 trillion? Maybe you can focus your business on whatever you are good at. What did you do to generate that $2000? Maybe you can use this money to scale up your efforts from what is already working. If you were writing articles from affiliate marketing maybe you can use this money to outsource some of your articles. Maybe you can invest some of this money into a CPC campaign or something. If you have been able to make 2k I don't see why you should turn away from this profit, use techniques that already work. If you invest in an unknown business adventure you stand a high chance of losing all of your money (hopefully not though).

If you truly want to get involved in a new business maybe you could look into purchasing a website that is already established and making an income. Go to site point or flippa or the buy/sell/trade section on this forum and browse to see whats out there for sale.

Even if you don't end up purchasing anything from these sites maybe they will help you generate some new ideas for a website for you...

 

Do not afraid of competition. If there is a competition, that means you actually CAN make money with that. If there is no competition... maybe this idea is not worth it.

 

I agree with Le Dangles. 2000 USD is way too little. A good web app. can cost $10K in development costs. I would advice that you go and push forward the business that made you money. Once you got an idea, then think of starting a business. Good Luck.

you should write a business plan, full 20 pages, well researched, competition? you need to make a research why it can work. anyways. $2k a bit small but if that will make u immidiate profit, than maybe worth trying. You need to do a lot of research first.

 

Shopping deals or coupon websites. You can earn money with affiliate links.

 

You can start a classified site. classified is a good idea, already there are some big players in india like sulekha, olx... and also it will be quit difficult to promote and maintain...

Definitely pick a "bootstrap" business. Which is to say, you can make a little money in your spare time, find out if the business is working well, and scale up your time investment if things are looking good. Not all businesses work well as bootstrap businesses. Things that require economies of scale, or network effects in order to be successful, are probably not going to work as bootstrap businesses.

 

That's quite a lot of money. I would hold on to it until you have a solid business plan.
A little planning goes a long way.
