Possible Sale of Massive 8 yr old Gaming Network, 40k uniques/day, $5-6k/month income

This network consists of 3-4 of the best sites I own. The sites are extremely undermonitised with only one adsense unit per page and nothing else. Maintanence is zero. The forum has almost a million posts, and over 60,000 members.

The content is extremely unique to the point where the main domain has 900 or so references at digg.com last time I checked. There have been times in the past where the servers have been braught to a crawl due to excessive traffic. We are currently upgrading from a 2 1/2 server setup to a four server setup with plenty of RAM to handle the increasing traffic. The hosting costs are still amazingly low at under $300/month for all four servers hosted in Germany. My admin who runs the site lives in Germany and was abe to secure a good deal.

Why am I considering a sale

Well, if something similar was to come up for sale with a BIN of say $80,000, I would buy it within minutes. You can view some of my purchases made here in the recent past to confirm that.

This network of course consists of sites which can easily demand two or even three years revenue. If I can pull in that sort of income from this sale I would be happy The price this network in my opinion will fetch is the reason for selling. Simple as that.

All of the 5 domains in the network are more than 5 years old.. and the oldest is over 8 years old. Collectively they have 6 DMOZ listings.

If ever I've seen a site worthy of selling for the high-end 36 months multiple than this would be it. Maintanence is zero. I have a full admin account at the forums and yet zero posts. The new owner does not need to get involved at all.

Given that only one single Adsense unit is being used per page on all the sites and subdomains of the network, it is safe to say the network is underearning, which coupled with the zero maintanence factor makes the asking price reasonable.

If no solid offer comes in that range, I would simply hold on to the network.

 

Have dealt with spdude before and can vouch for whatever you read in this thread as being accurate. If I had the surplus cash, I would definitely consider bringing these sites under my wings.

A 6-figure sale doesn't surprise me. $5~$6K income a month is pretty good. That's $60K per year. Multiply that by 3 years should give you just under $180K and that's if things remain at the current level.

IRR is very high on this. That's the beauty of web businesses. Well, good luck with things.

 

Definetly... if I had this kind of money id snatch this before its too late, these kind of sites dont come for sale too often.

 

Yeah, I seen what spdude buys and I have an idea what is in the network. Definately worth the 6 figures. Just way over my budget of low 5s to low mid 5s.

also: you said the server was hosted in germany? is the site in english? if so, how much of the traffic is from the US? how much of the traffic is german? (wondering if moving the servers to the US would cause a major change, mostly)
