What is the best way to get more bloggers to submit great links to my site

    Hi everyone,

I have just started a new blog on links.com and am surprised that more visitors haven't offered some great links that can be featured on the site.

I have tried blog carnival but couldn't figure out how to run the carnival over there. It was quite confusing so I gave up. I also tried Bloggers but can't seem to get any great blogs or links.

This is a great opportunity to get visibility for some great blogs that maybe do not get that many visits but deserve more attention. Do you have any ideas on how I might solicit some more submissions on my blog?

    Hi,

I tried out several social bookmarking ideas but none of them gained traction. I think social bookmarking is now dead because of Facebook. Any links are share with friends on those type of sites. Thanks for the idea though.

I have just tested your link site.

One of the things i noticed is i did not see a spot to post a url.

I would suggest adding another text box for the url field an one for the description.

The way the last page came across to me was to post a comment an less to post a link.

It is a great domain name, but I agree with the other people who have posted in this thread...

Why wordpress? That is not exactly your best choice for a content management system...

If you are going to stick with WordPress, make darn sure everyone can see that SUBMIT HERE link...

Offer some kind of Linking Service, even if you are outsourcing it to a third-party...

Give people more than just a hodge-podge or luke warm posts to chow on... The more people choosing to read your blog, the more opportunity you will have to get people to submit more links to you...

Add the SUBMIT HERE link to the bottom of every post... Advertise it proudly...

Thanks for your suggestions. To answer some of your questions:

I chose WordPress for a number of reasons. It is: 1) reliable, 2) secure, 3) reasonably flexible. 4) backward compatible between versions, 5) extensible via plugins, fast (good performance characteristics), and 6) excellent SEO characteristics. It also has excellent anti-spamming options and also a very large user base.

I will have to think of ways to highlight the SUBMIT HERE button. Thanks for the suggestion.

Providing linking services is something I have considered since probably many of my visitors are undoubtedly looking for this kind of service. However, there are some issues that I have to address. Linking services do require lots of monitoring and support. I do not want to devalue the site by being involved in operations that I cannot adequately monitor and support.

Finding good content that is not well covered by other great sites is quite an endeavor. It is the name of the game. I am experimenting with various approaches but I have to service a very diverse audience right now and finding a niche is part of my options.

I am including the SUBMIT LINKS in my signature. Thanks for the excellent idea!

Thanks. One of the issues with a generic domain like this is branding it. I was hoping that it would become an introduction site for bright new domains that might not get enough attention but it seems like getting good content continues to be a challenge. The content that gets the most traffic are posts that I developed myself:

22 Best Must Have WordPress Plugins
Links to 26 Daily Deal Social Buying Sites

Right now I am trying to find the right formula. My metrics are improving and Google is rewarding me with higher SERP for key words like links, tv links, video links, game links, etc.

I think the key thing is its less about the software platform your using if its a directory or a blog.

Key factor is how you present it.

I agree. I have tried many different ways to present good content. The current presentation seems to be doing the best since good content is prominently displayed. My metrics are doing well and are increasing but I am not convinced this is the best way to display the type of content that I am attempting to highlight.

Yesterday, I placed a post in the Links Exchange area of this forum asking for owners of good content to contact me via Links.com. I received some interesting content. Not all of them fit into the general readership that visits my site but I am glad to see some site owners submitting their sites for review. There are lots of good sites and blogs out there that merit attention.
