not really. you cna always type in the URL directly. that way they are still getting the traffic they want, but without paying. fair enough, since they already sort of paid you for the other traffics.

The problem is that not all ad bar types show the URL. That works for the larger blocks, buy my horizontal bars, for example, don't show the URL.

just right click on that ad, go to "This Frame", go to "View Frame Source" and hunt for the URL.

for IE, just right-click and View Source. A little messy, but if the ad interests you enough...:)

It's funny, but whenever I see an interesting ad on my own site, I don't click on it (I never ever click on any ads on my site, it's almost like I've programmed myself to resist!) but when I run into the same ads on another site, I'll click on it to see what it is. Most of the time it's never what I thought it was. Ads are so misleading, aren't they?

i am so used to typing the URL directly that i even do that when i'm on someone else's site. somehow my mind keeps thinking that i'm clicking on my own ads.

Thanks Devin - I had not noticed that the ads were viewable in the frames. I spent so much time reloading my page trying to get one ad over to the right bar (where the URL is displayed normally) so I could see it, this will save me lots of time in the future ;)

DO mail google to advise them. That way you have notification/documentation and can also sleep at night. It does happen to all of us, but if you are upfront you don't have to worry about the misc accidental click.

I've done it a few times too - I don't know how, but my mouse sometimes just clicks things on its own - I think I must be doing too many things at once and it thinks I clicked when I know for sure I didn't. So far I haven't been in trouble, but it is scary and particularly annoying when I can't stop it happening occasionally.

do not email google you would only be causing trouble for yourself.

dont worry about it.. adverts get clicked all the time.. so long as its not a habbit there is no problem.

unfortunately there is a minority in this forum who think any webmaster who clicks their own links even just once is the devil himself and will hound you like a dog.. ingore them, my inbox is always an interesting read but nothing more than that.

That shouldn't be a problem since its just one click unless you repeatedly intentionally do it again. But you should be okay. Try using the Google Adsense Preview Tool.
