This is pretty wild. Wanna see more details though.. "The experiment involved for the first time a macroscopic atomic object containing thousands of billions of atoms. They also teleported the information a distance of half a meter but believe it can be extended further." http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/10/04/teleportation.reut/index.html
This stuff is crazy! I thought teleportation was some science fiction invention or pseudoscience and now this....crazy stuff...how it works anyways..? I read the article but, cannot figure out..I mean how fast does the object travel during teleportation? With the speed of light or even faster? That's crazy!
What do you mean by "all of a sudden"? There must be some time frame during which the object goes from one location to another. It's not logical otherwise...May be it's just travelling superfast....
Technology continues to go faster and faster........and most of the population doesn't have a clue. It might as well be magic to them. This sets the stage for a division in society that I will call the "technological division."
I guess the speed of light is the limit. Fast enough to get to work on time (although I suspect I'll just wake up even later), but not really instantaneous.
That's pretty awesome. Last time I heard teleportation wasn't actually possible, you could create a hologram copy or whatever of someone somewhere else but couldn't actually teleport. Weird. It would be super fun to just teleport to Hawaii or somewhere for a day and teleport back home, all instant and free.
Maybe one day we will get the future we were promised as children. Weren't we supposed to have all the technology in the movies by 2001?
I'm interested in technology and all, but all of this scares me. Not just the teleportation tech, but everything else the government/military is working on. I don't know why is it people automatically assume it is a good thing. More often than not, you have to be richer than God to afford this stuff, and the only people who end up having access to it are the super wealthy. I also read recently that scientists are creating artificial black holes in Hadron colliders, and I read today that they are working on a drone that is invisible to the human eye. I just hope the technology isn't abused, but more than likely, it probably will be.
Reading the topic's title I thought of you... almost, almost. People talk about "Star Trek fashion", when Nichola Tesla was the first working on teleportation experiments in the early 1900s
How many of you remember when John Titor was making the rounds with his story? It was pretty nuts at the time, he had a cult following.
Yeah I remember reading the same thing somewhere not sure where though. Where if something would be teleported it would be "dematerialized" and then it would "materialize" as an exact replica but it wouldn't actually be the same thing.
