Suggestion Is there really a need for an 'Introductions' category?

Posts in that section don't add towards your post count.

    Really? I never noticed.

Anyway, it's still a waste of valuable server resources.

It's not your server, so why worry.
It keeps all those sorts of posts in one place, so they don't erupt over the rest of the forum, like an itchy rash.
Don't like it? Don't read it.

Yes , it is needed . It is considered polite to have such as a section and the server usage is quite low .

Imagine the whole forum will look like a shit hole if new members start posting such threads in all sub forums. I mean threads like

    Hello I am new here
    Hello Friends I am new
    Hi Just signed up
    Hello
    Hello
    Hello
    Greetings from Nigeria

This could happen if there is no 'Introductions' subforum :)

Well there could be a section in the FAQ saying that there is no need to introduce yourself because when you post on the forum other members will get to know you anyway. They then can get banned if they create a thread introducing themselves.

I posted in the introductions forums about my skills and talents and was actually offered a quick freelance job, so I actually appreciated the introduction.

Thats great. Usually people look at your post count and/or itrader before offering you work. Thumbs up for that.

Come on dude, like seriously? Banning people just because they've introduced themselves? It's like what Rukiara said in her post at the introductions forum, she can post her skills and err.. talents? lol. and the things that she can offer as a quick freelance job. If you're looking for some freelancers then posts such as that would really help.

Although given the current situation, the introduction forums is really next to a shithole. XD

    .02 cents.

But most people who reply to those threads in there really don't care - most people don't even read the OPs post because it's in the introductions forum and they introduce them by saying "welcome to the forum" - hoping to get their post count up event though they can't (apparently).

    It's dumb that's why lol.

Arr.. yer.. Well it all comes down to our individual perceptions if the Introduction is indeed useless or not and Shawn (obviously) has the only final say on this matter unfortunately. Then again, if it is still up there, then there is one good reason why it is still up there or it wouldn't be there in the first place no? XD
