Organic traffic and affiliate marketing has been some of the best source of revenue for us and is working very well.

However, traffic and advertising is one thing, but you also need to make sure that your site is optimised to ensure that any traffic converts in to a sale.

There is no point in driving 1000 visits to your site a day if your conversion rate is only 5%

It depends on your niches, but for one of my niches, I use ppc. I have thought about facebook as I do use the site regularly.

SEO hands down. If I want quick visitors I go for adwords or stumbleupon ads

You mean Google Adwords? There are cheaper ways to advertise than Google Adwords. Adbrite is one of them.

I use seo techniques. They are time consuming but they work to get organic traffic. It also isn't a fast way to get traffic. While you are waiting for that to work you might try ppc.

Most successful was being part of a niche community and advertising the site there. The user's really helped hype it for me and it ended up being a big success for a good year. I have since sold said site and plan to do the same with a new site I'm developing now.

Organic Traffic is where the money is.
However, you can still do the usual blog commenting.
    Then use twitter and facebook.

I'm not so big on banner advertising anymore..
guest posting on popular sites still works though.
