Lovely... No go back and read the thread from the beggining.

I agree. He is still a shitbag in my book. Life can be so much simpler. Why put others lives at peril, whether he meant it or not.

Actually Turkey is a secular state. They have very strong seperation of church and state laws. In fact I think their seperation is stronger than it is in the U.S. Still, I would imagine he faces a pretty grim fate. I could think of a lot better places to end up than a Turkish prison. At least at Gitmo one gets fed well.

    Just make something clear guys.

The purpose of this hijacking has only been to immigrate.

People do these sort of things to be able to claim that their life would be in danger in their country if they returned.

He has a history of denying his own, obvious actions when called out on them, rather than being a man and taking responsibility. Nothing new here. :D

    this is funny :)

We do not have death penalty in Turkey, and our secular government system has a great justice mechanism (of course it needs improvements like all other countries').

So, don't worry, he'll keep this head :)

Are your prisons as bad as I've heard?

It's all bad publicity started about Turkish prisons after the all made up movie (sponsored by Anti-Turkish group).

Turkey has passed so many new laws for European Union and Human Rights adjustions, and I think it's doing a great job to become a full member of EU.

Some of us have no opinion on how bad or good the prisons might be there. Never seen a movie on turkish prisons or anything.

When I have spoken to a DP member here about Turkey it seems to be fairly nice place with descent laws and mixes of religions.

Actually I hear the food is really good at Gitmo. I was reading that all of the prisoners are putting on weight. In fact one has gained 200 pounds.

Apparently the normal U.S. Federal prisoner is given a diet of 2,900 calories a day. Gitmo prisoners are provided a wide variety of foods equalling 4,000 calories per day. The normal person will do just fine on 2,000-2,500 calories per day (I personally try to keep my intake down below 2,000).

Supposedly Gitmo prisoners are told they are given more food then they really need so that they can pick and choose what the really want, but that they tend to eat it all anyways. Amnesty International is complaining that we are making the Gitmo prisoners fat, which isn't good for their health. I don't think I've ever heard that complaint about prison conditions before.

I do wish we would give the Gitmo prisoners their day in court and shut the damn thing down. It just doesn't make America look good nor does it help portray the U.S. as a nation of laws.

Living in Turkey for four years and knowin the internal workings of their "secret service" and prisons I'd rather be in gitmo then any turkish prison.
