Yes, for the past few days, Internet Marketers all over the web have been losing backlinks. Right now, the question is unanswered. I will try to get the update ASAP.

    Hi,

Right, I also noticed a sharp drop on back links for almost all of my own sites according to SEOQuake add-on for Firefox. I used to meet the same problem but all my backlinks go back after some days. No ideas, too! :(

Not quite sure on that one, I have noticed Google making some major changes to brand stacking, and the prominence of a domain name in the SERPS (Yet Again lol) - Not really liking this for some of the eCommerce sites I work with. If anyone has any word on the backlinks that would be helpful. Been kinda weird lately.

The cause of losing so many backlinks is that in most sites, the links are lost over time, especially in forums and blogs. (Where I see that the staff focuses more.)

Nobody knows (Except Matt Cutts and his colleague :) ) what Google does to update anything for page rank, faster search result..etc.. We can just predict, when we get any changes in the ranking, PR and back links.. we say it is something happening with Google Data Centers, Algo etc

In any case either we get ranking drop, loosing the back links or loosing the PR..etc we should do a good investigation to get the meaningful answer. As like you are facing the problem with your back links so you should start a investigation to get the right answer. You can do the followings things in your investigation as I suggest:

You need to check your site's back links and compare them with the last record. Here might be two situations, one you have the previous record and second you don't have...

If you have the last record then do the given:

1-Check and compare this, have you lost your links from a single domain or different domain (Ex, I have a site that have 200+ back links in Google and those are coming from a single directory site, Actually my site has listed in the right menu of that directory so at every category page my link has listed/indexed in Google)

Comment: if the same was happening with your site, so try to get links form those sites from which you was getting a large amount of back links, But keep in mind that many links from a single domain not worthily as compare to less links from the different domains.

2-That domains are expired from which you was getting links?

Comment: If Domain has expired then you can't do anything, you just need to do more submissions for your site (Articles, video, bookmarks..etc)

If you don't have the last record then do the given:

Count the number of back-links, you can do it easily just use the Google Toolbar and take this from there. After that build a list of domains from you have the back links (You can use any back-links checker tool, just type in Google you can find many relevant results and can use any of them as per your suitability. I suggest Back Link Watch tool). Then you have to wait for min 10-15 days and build a new sheet again, so you can do the comparison at that time. If you will be loosing back-links then check the domains that are not in the new sheet and try to build links again if domain exists.

Finally I want to just say that keep you submission constantly, don't do offpage work for a month and relax for a year because for managing the back-links you have to keep your submissions in the right way.

Yes, I noticed this also. Some backlinks disappear and new ones show. One of my sites gone from PR3 to PR0, others got +2 PR. Cannot figure this out because I didn't change anything

Dude, it's the Game of Google.....Sometime you get new links and old links goes down....sometime you get 2 PR in first update and in the next you get 0 or 3...
So don't think too much just do only quality submissions and increase your back-links by getting the natural listing.

I have just notice that as well since last week. Some of my sites drop backlinks and causes it's ranking to drop. Was normally top 5, but now is sitting in top 10.
