Hi i noticed that starting 3 days ago , transaction tab is missing client Name(s) and email (looking as affiliate). Anybody noticing this ? Paycheck was sent normaly, no problems otherwise, just this. It's kinda bad because i can't offer support to clients that buy through my affiliate link (ya i do that, most people don't know how to use what they buy).
Taken from an email i got from CB "Recently it was brought to our attention that providing the customer information to the affiliate on a sale is a breach of privacy, since the customer does not knowingly authorize the affiliate with their personal info. I most customers don’t even know what an affiliate is or that an affiliate is involved in their purchase. In response to this it was determined that we should remove this information so that we were in compliance with federal and local regulations, payment industry standards, and our consumer privacy policy (http://www.clickbank.com/customer_privacy.html). This change was effective Monday the 18th with the latest system update."
Than implement a way to be able to contact client through a form without disclosing client email/name After 10 years they figured that and im not even sure that they are right, bleah
^ I'm sorry I agree with CB. I'm the vendor, I don't want my affiliates having my customers info, they shouldn't be supporting them or incentivizing my offer or scraping their emails to send them other shit... I applaud this move, good affiliates shouldn't need to support customers, shouldn't be incentivizing, and have no need to know their name. I can't imagine how many aweber lists were spawned with aff sales and people still opting in thinking it's the vendors account - you guys get to build a buyers list and remarket my competitors to them etc. Get them to opt-in to your list during your campaigns - problem solved, resell, support, whatever. +1 for CB.
Sorry but CB products are overpriced compared to their value (to satisfy affiliate and vendor) so they need incentives. Also, if complementing a product would no longer be easily available (still possible) sales will decrease, especially since this global financial instability. Also, now vendors can do whatever they please, affiliates dont have any chance to track anything, verify or whatever. Bad move for affiliates and vendors, in the long run it will bite back. edit : and also it's time to ditch CB affiliation, i will sell my products through them (because nobody stops me to sell through 10 affiliate platforms) but that's it My affiliate traffic will go somewhere else.
Totally agree. Affiliates shouldn't be contacting customers. It just confuses the issue. Thumbs up to Clickbank on this one.
"CB Products" is an lol statement. They might attract shitty vendors but that's just affiliates not knowing how to filter good from bad - and smart affiliates will reach out to the vendor anyway before hand instead of promoting blindly and incentivizing to death (which you CAN still do anyway). You're also saying that you yourself sell through them, so do you classify your own products by those same standards? Do you have a 'CB product' or a unique product that you chose to just use 'cb' with because of the aff base or ease of use or whatever. Good vendors don't just sit idly expecting affiliates to up the value of their offer during crunch times mate, otherwise the whole inventory on CB would rely on incentives - good vendors position themselves accordingly, good affiliates find those vendors or should try harder. No matter what network you're with you'll find all types of shade with vendors it's not something isolated to any network. Plus most other networks do NOT show this info, for the exact reasons DarkerAlice explained. I agree, hence: Scraping their info for unrelated profiting purposes based on converting them on my offer isn't admired. If you are going to do it, you get their info yourself don't scrape my buyers, don't contact my buyers, don't support my buyers, you want to incentivize you tell your customer you are doing so as a third party for opting into your own list not riding my brand credibility to build it.. This way both people win, you get to remarket, we get to support exclusively and also remarket, both still get paid and vendors don't have to worry about aff's misrepresenting them or supporting them or coattailing the brand and buyers pretending to be an official rep.
good move from CB. as an affiliate, I admit there were times I googled some of the names of the people who bought some CB products I was promoting, namely weight loss products, penis enlargement, etc. sometimes I have nothing better to do. at least now, I won't be doing that anymore lol.
I definitely support this move too. Imo affiliates who offer incentives / bonuses are only thinking small time really anyway, as this involves putting yourself into the process on every sale, following up, providing customer support and answering questions, and sending bonuses out to those who need them... one of the main advantages of being an affiliate imo is that you can skip all of this and just send traffic and save massive amounts of time and money on support and customer contact - scale your efforts up and automate them... spend your time creating more sites, more reviews, more articles, or whatever you do, rather than getting caught up in the customer service for a vendor you have nothing to do with. If a CB product really NEEDS an extra incentive for people to buy it then maybe it's time to look for a different / better product - you are effectively saying to people "I know this product is a bit naff, it needs something extra, well, please buy it anyway and I'll give you this _____".... perhaps selling the product in a different way - recommending it, reviewing it positively, showing some results with it, your own experience, basically a unique, hand written article / review of it will result in higher sales anyway than needing to incentivise it, and of course without the extra customer service you will have to do..
