    Are there any tools that do more than simply check Google to see if you're in their SERP's? I'm looking for something more comprehensive.

    i don't think that one is accurate.. if you noticed that google is suddenly remove your site from index and not indexing for a long time then it might be ban or penalized..

    but i have always use this
    it gives right result for my site at least ;)

    Don't trust these penalty checker tools. These tools are working like it. If you have indexed pages on Google, they tell your website is not penalized and if you don't have indexed pages on Google, they tell your website is penalized. However its one way for detecting penalty situation of a domain but its the last way. There are many websites that have indexed pages on Google but the are penalized by Google. The only way to detect it, is following the position and the situation of a domain in months and if there are bad huge changes, it shows that this domain is penalized.

    This tool really works i have check three of my site and one is on penalty and i have doubt the same, mean this tool is accurate.

    I don't think that tool is accurate.
    What kind of penalties does the tool check?
    Only if your domain is in the serps? - Well that's not good enough.
    Google has multiple penalties in their arsenal.

    lol i don't think they are reliable enough :S but oh well something is better than nothing. I enter my website's url to see if i am indexed or being de-indexed

    But I want to suggest that don't be depends on these penalty tools, but if you feel some problems then -

    Boost your work more and more,
    make that work regular
    Try some smart ways like as SMM (Social Media Marketing) for your site.

    Your will boost with your efforts, no penalty would be there

    I just tried this tool and for my site SubmitSeoArticles.com says "This domain is either banned or has never been indexed by Google." where as site is doing well in google? so is it really reliable?

    Well, perhaps there is no need to use any tools because you as the admin of your domain and website do know in a better way if your website has encountered any problems. For example, if the rankings have dropped by doing a simple manual web check you would figure this out or if some pages have dropped you can learn about their status quickly.
