I noticed many of my competitors have more than one ad displaying at the same time for particular keyword searches. Can you do this with one account? (I tried creating a seperate adgroup for this, but it only displayed my higher of the two bids) or Do you have to create a seperate adwords account with a different ssn or ein?
No, within the adgroup you can just create multiple ads. Go into the current ad you already have and click View All Tabs At Once and then atthe bottom next to the ad see + Create new ad: Text ad | Image ad | Mobile text ad | Local business ad | Video ad Code (markup): Common tactic is to always have two and then every other week delete the worst performing one and write a new one. Like a Tag competition.
I think the question was, how do you have 2 ads display at the same time for one keyword, and the answer is, you can't with one account. What you're talking about is having more than one adcopy for an adgroup, which is something different.
it appears this will alternate the two ads, rather than displaying both simutaneously. Great tip! I'll definately be making use of this.
Aha, in that case you'd indeed need two accounts, which you aren't really supposed to have. The other ones of your competitors are probably by affiliates.
can this be accomplished with more than one account? i want to have an ad for my forums AND for my parent site simutaneously.
You can't do it with one account. What your competition is doing is called double serving and it sucks imo.
i agree it sucks. however, i may be forced to do it in order to keep my numbers up. does G allow this or is it frowned upon?
To reiterate things, no! Avoid any attempts at double serving like the plague. Google has (in spirit) said they're extremely strict on double serving. However, if you do somehow get banned from AdWords, it's practically impossible to get back in, let alone promote the same sites again.
https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14179 They don't like it. If you're a small player you may get one or two warnings before they shut you down. If you're a big player (spending millions) you can probably jerk them around for 6 - 12 months before they take any real action. As tempting as it may be to take the "if you can't beat them join them approach" I would advise against it. You may see a short term gain but the potential risk (no more AdWords for you) could be huge depending on your marketing mix. It sucks, but the best way to fight it is to report them again and again. There are other ways you can make their campaigns less than profitable but I would never suggest those
are you referring to the click to call feature?., You will have 2 ads of your displayed for the same keyword., when you have click to call campaign enabled., To have more than one account, You must have 2 accounts (just kidding).,
G , won't allow you to have more thn 1 adwords account (using the same name)... They have very clever ways to link accounts together (even if you use diffrent CC)... So don't do it... my $0.02 Tim
What if the account has: 2 different CCs 2 different SSNs 1 site and a subdomain of that site I am not sure they can easily track something like this and if they could, they would have to at least give a warning...right?
Your competition will report you. It's risky, I think that's the point everyone is trying to make. If you get caught and they terminate your AdWords account(s) can you live with that?
Same subdomain, they'll catch you. Same domain registry data, they'll catch you. Same IP address you use to log onto adwords, they'll catch you. Use a proxy, they -might- catch you if you have Google Toolbar installed. Same affiliate ID - someone'll report you. In the end, do you really want to risk it?
Not only is it impossible, you'll also be on there hit list. They may choose to ban you from their index as well leaving you with no paid or free traffic from them at all. Totally not worth the risk.
