I am facing same problem, and i think Google made some big changes on its algorithm so it is happened. My 3-4 sites are gone to sand box in a single day... They were on same template. But i don't know what exactly the problem was.

Start writing original contents and never do the wrong stuff again. Once Google will index and find that your website is having original contents then it will slowly remove the penality and if you will keep writing then it will start coming in your google search engine results.

Change your website content regularly means update your website. Delete copied content from your website and ping it.

    What a bunch of..

Do you guys even have Google Webmaster Tools? (GWT) or do you guys even know why you got penalised? Normally, GWT gives you an information in regards with the findings that they can get from your website, may it be that you're spamming keywords, copied content, etc..

    And so the answer to this question is to;

    1. Know why you got penalised.
    2. By knowing why, you'll then be able to know what are you going to do by rectifying it.

I don't think Google tells about the reason. Google just shows that the site is violating, for what reason, know body knows except Google.... Ha Ha Ha

In most cases website are being penalized due to two reasons.
    1) Backlinks
    2) Content
If you got backlinks from cheap or low quality websites maybe Google penalize your website. Or its possible that you made backlinks for your website quickly.
And if you have duplicate content on your website, its possible that Google penalize your website.
Now if your website is penalized now, i suggest you to make some quality backlinks for your website slowly and write some unique content for your website and also make a XML sitemap and upload it to Google webmaster tools, then its possible that your website return to it's previous position.

What if I have never built any backlinks for myself but all of my competitors did. They've all given me backlinks to SPAM low quality websites in which I have never asked for it, would I be penalised because my competitors gave me low quality backlinks? LOL.

Backlinks has never hurt anyone in most cases.

Really we can not stop these types of links and Google also has no answer for it. This is what called black hat SEO or Negative SEO...

Totally agreed. if low quality links can hurt a website than I will start working spammy SEO for my competitors and very soon my websites will be on top...lol.

Not totally no answer for it, links coming from low quality spam websites are given less value than quality links and doesn't really get recognised by Google so they're totally second to useless. Not penalised but the links are only given less value. That way, your competitors won't be able to hurt you and vice versa.

Well people can say one thing, you say another as well as I however, no one would really know right? As Google will ultimately have the final say on everything. ;)
