I read somewhere that google stated that they are gonna treat .co (Columbia) domains just as general .com/net/org domains. Meaning they should rank in google.com as easy as the general TLDs for worldwide searches not just local ones. Well i grabbed one and gave it a try (3 months now), it's no where to be found in the first 1000 for the main phrase, which is an exact match domain as well. So seems to me, that this is not true. If you managed to get results with this please do share
Did you use Google's webmaster tools to set it to whatever it is you have to set it to (sorry, can't remember off hand what it is)?
Geographical Target was it? @OP - Just set your geo target in Google Webmaster Tools and run another experiment on it, if anything happens let us know. I'm kinda interested with these .co TLDs as well.
.com .net and .org domains are main on the net but every other website with any extension can compete these extensions. But i think Google doesn't treat with .co domains as above common extensions. Because there are many companies who wants to target their domains for Columbia and if Google does it, its very difficult for these companies to compete on the web because their competition will be global not local.
Nah, check here: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/359704/google-approves-co-domain-for-international-use Google is approving the .co domains for international use, as they were released as such by the domain registrars....
great idea, i totally forget about that option in GWT. It was possible to set it to any specific country exactly like a com, net, org, tv, or me. So i guess it was set to worldwide by default. my .cm domains for example are locked to Cameron and you can't change that. Lets see if that will get me in the first 1000 at least...
I do not find .co exciting at all. People don't get it. They think you accidentally left the 'm' off. Network solutions is pushing it in ads and emails. I think it's a loser...
i have been running a .co for about a month with no page rank yet - if something changes in the next few months i will gladly share
Google have not yet uploaded any video or post regarding this issue. I think you have read the discussion between members any where. Which may or may not be true.
