The best classifieds that I found was Classipress which is based upon Wordpress platform. Since it is based on Wordpress it has reasonable SEO as well as spam protection. The forum is very active but I couldn't find out too much about what is going on since only the Pre-sales forum was open to the general public. Still it seemed pretty good and I new version is suppose to be out shortly with proximity search capabilities. However, the new version has been delayed and I am waiting to see if it is stable before I purchase it.
