Hello Mydear Friends... Just Yestertday Iam searching on yahoo for two domains ...That two Domaisn are just yesterday available .. and iam decided to buy the both today when iam trying to buy the both it said already taken...Iam very surprised...and Iam goto whois and search for those on it..and now iam very surprised... The name server is : NS.2.NAME.NET The two Domains are Rentecoder.com refreshworld.com Iam very sad now...Yahoo selling their search data to others So please be careful... If ur planning right now..try Yahoo... Otherwise leave the yahoo and search for good* registrant... ThankYou
Can your prove that they're selling their search data? There are hundreds of thousands (if not more) of people buying domains every day. Someone probably was faster than you.
I'm not that sure that it was coincidence.... A good rule to follow is to search with intention to register right then...dont procrastinate... Its true many registrars have turned into crocs, I dont know about Yahoo but this problem with losing a domain after searching has become staple news.
Thanks for the reply... and the both domains registrar is the same try to check on whois.sc But please be careful guys.. Thankyou
Well i didn't mean that a single guy got both domains. I meant two people. But it also possible that Yahoo is keeping the search queries. Personally, if i ever find a very good domain that isn't taken, i immediately register it and decide what i'm going to do with it later.
Hey man.. Rentacoder.com has a thousands of dollars daily turnover...and this is the #1 freelancer site in the world..and its alexa rank is 700 ... IMO - Rentecoder.com is a very greeat domain,...
You said that they were just available. All the deleted domain lists are scoured for good domains. so, I wouldn't blame yahoo.
And have you made sure your computer is "clean" of "unwanted guests"? Not all domain searches are looked into via an online service if your computer is feeding data to someone who's compromised it. If you really want to be able to search for domain availability for .com, go to the source: http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois But if you can't trust any of those online sites and you're somewhat techsavy, then do a UNIX command search.
It's not only Yahoo you have to be wary of, in fact most registars do it. TopDraw is right, i've been in a similar situation too. Read This: http://e-techblog.com/2006/07/22/beware-before-you-perform-a-domain-name-search/
I use domaintools.com because they allow you to search for a search term, and show you which extensiona are available (so they don't know which extension you want). Does anybody know if they are trustworthy?
IMO .. they are also not good to showing accurate results..they are showing very mistake results...example..: search for 888 in domaintools ... 888.us is available(they show) but the domain is not available,...
Yes, anvesh, you are right about that: sometimes their results are not accurate. When I look for names, I just make a list of possible candidates with domaintools.com, and when I'm ready to pull out my credit card, I register them with Godaddy. I prefer the dissapointment that a domain was not available in contrary to what domaintools said, that of someone snatching up the name before I get around to registering it.
yahoo is a bitch anyway why even use their search facilities. I would recomend you NEVER use yahoo as a registra. Im about to bitch to MelbourneIT about yahoo and see if I can get my domain pushed from them.
One time... Iam searching on yahoo for good domains... Just iam searching for classifieds.com in yahoo.. and yahoo says it is availble.. at that time.iam purchasing the domain but they r replying me with unavailable message... Thankyou
registerfly use to do that to me. 1 second its avaliable and then when you go to reg it it ant avaliable. so far they have fixed it this was awile ago
