Best way to get advertising revenue from a blog?

    Hi guys,

I have recently started a blog/website. So far I've had over 450 unique visitors and nearly 1000 page loads but my Google Adsense links haven't been clicked once!

Is Google Adsense the best route to go for getting advertising revenue from a blog? Am I doing something wrong? My site is www.TrueShowbiz.com and on the right is the advertising box.

It is a Wordpress blog (hosted by me).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Not so simple my friend, you should get a pagerank as well as good alexa and you will start getting paid for impressions as well

Okay, thank you! So I should stick it out with the Adsense? I'm going to add some affiliate links too and see how that goes.

Also, right now my links to articles are just an automated number...do you think by getting the plugin to change the links to www.trueshowbiz.com/article-name-here would be better for SEO?

You can even build an advertising page so if program admins wants to spread their business they can advertise on your website (OF cos if you make your site popular enough)

AdSense is a very good monetizing method. It is complicated to tell what to do in order to see some clicks in your AdSense account, but for sure you have to do some research. AdSense is a system where you have to know what keywords you target and how much you can get pay for them. It is possible to have 10.000 page-views and 1000 clicks in a month and earn $10 only.
I would go for selling advertising space on your website after you double your traffic. :)
AdSens might work, but you need PR, a lot of organic traffic and above all, targeted keywords.

Okay thanks! I'll probably stick with the Adsense but add a few different advertising/revenue methods too.

I think that to see a better ctr, you might want to move your adsense ad placement. Try adding a banner at the top, or, if you can integrate a 300X250 block into the text of the post itself.

One problem with that style of blog is that you have the big photos which draw the eye away from the adsense ad. The blog does look very nice, but if you want to maximize adsense clicks that might not be the style to go with.

Another thing that I would worry about is how much you will get for each click? I don't think that celebrity ads are very expensive therefore you might not make much when you do get clicks. I could be wrong about that though - I never do celebrity blogs.

If you find the adsense is not earning you what you want, you might consider a CPA offer.

    Hope that helps!

Okay, thanks! I was thinking of trying to get some of the Adsense placed around the blog and in the text...I've seen it on some other sites so I'll look into it.

Yeah, I'm not sure about how much per click either. I didn't create the blog as a niche site to create money from Adsense...it's more than just a business idea really. I have some exclusive interviews lined up that are going to go on the site and just wanted to try and gain some profit from the visitors really! But I'll look into some different placement methods and also get my affiliate links up.

    Thanks!

Okay, thanks for all your help guys!

Think I'm going to put text links at the top and bottom of each article (might put image ads in longer articles) and also get my affiliate links up.

Best way is to build traffic and sell ad spaces yourselves. Only paypal fees will be involved. All the remaining amount is just for you.

Your niche isn't a profitable one, so don't expect to get tons of revenues from Adsense out of it. I also own an entertainment blog and it only gets 100$ per month.

Give adsense sometime to refine tune the ads themselves. At the same while, you will need to optimize the positions of the ad placement and keep writing content.
