format the thing and put yout own version of windows 7 on... if it's a brand name one.. half the processes will be that of the manufactures loading useless rubbish.
Win7 has a lot more features that are user friendly, however if you are a hardcore XP fan you most likely will find the switch to Win7 a bit troublesome, unless you have already dealt with the shortcomings of Windows Vista. I personally find Win7 great, the lack of driver digging that needs to be done whenever a PC is formatted, the speed of the OS install and the practicality of the OS. Also, Win7 tries very hard to not blue screen.
hey not sure why you would say that ?? windows 7 is awesome ! i am microsoft certified if you would like i can help ya wit some windows 7 training vidz ??? just pm me and let me know ! have a great day ! Ms.Wxyz
I do not like personally Windows7 because I find it really slow. My computer has an XP os while my laptop is on Windows 7 so there's a big difference in terms of performance. I'm planning next week to change the OS that I'm currently using in my laptop so I will shift to XP.
I know it's a Windows Thread but I hate Windows and that is why I use Ubuntu. Way better OS. It's more stable and not to mention open source with a lot of quality apps that Microsoft doesn't have.
I love Windows 7. I found the switch from XP to be awesome too. No problems with it so far, had it since January. (I also dual boot with ubuntu, ubuntu is cool but W7 is just better in my eyes)
I dual booted for awhile then W7 started acting up and wouldn't boot past the hard disk checks. So I just decided to format and do clean install and just setup Ubuntu Desktop on personal laptop and then Ubuntu Server on my other one
What are you peeps talking about >.< XP more stable than Windows 7 - Yes of course, Windows is so stupid XP Is the fastest and only OS I've ever used - Perhaps cause it's the only? I've been using XP for years, switched to 7 1 month ago. Takes 2 days to get used to all new stuff, after that, it's awesome. Some need to update their drivers and I'm still trying to find a driver for my old HP printer.
Actually I love it. It's pretty stable and has tons of useful and nice features. A way better than XP, or even Vista.
Vista doesn't even count. The reason it doesn't count is because Vista was actually the 7th version of the OS but it was so horrible and unstable which is why they came out with Windows 7
Windows 7 is definitely a good OS, a true worthy successor of Windows XP (not counting vista). To run it flawlessly you need to have lots of free hard disk space (20 GB + primary hdd), 2.5 GB+ Ram and a Core 2 Duo processor to get all the eye-candy. Another point is Win 7 keeps a 100 mb secret partition reserved for system operation, which can seriously mess up your existing partitions if you decide to upgrade or go for a fresh installation.
But for people like me it's possible to turn off all the eyecandy stuff and have a very stable/fast OS.
Not really, it is just a limitation of 32bit OS, switch to 64bit XP and you should be able to utilize all the resources. Having said that, Windows 7 is better, even if it is a little heavier on system resources.
