Google offers 1GB of storage space free.

Once you log onto your Google email look on the upper right just click on the word Document it will take you to your FREE 1GB of storage space. This will remain private and not viewed by the public. This storage space is a great way to save you from using up your own bites on your pc.

1 Gig? I can't see any word document in the upper right of my Gmail, but at the bottom of Gmail, I see. "You are currently using 483 MB (6%) of your 7508 MB."

So I already have over 7Gig, what's this extra 1 Gig supposed to be for and why didn't they just add it to the 7+ gig they give everyone now?

I think they meant Google Docs James. It's a great way to share files
