Nah... I've survived much worse. I got hit from behind, so the force of the blow sort of "whipped" me to the ground. It was like my feet were stuck, so my face moved very rapidly to the pavement. The force of the blow probably scared him into stopping the car, so I scrambled up and forward, then he regained composure and hit me again. Thwack, down I went again. Except this time he kept moving forward, so the car slid partially over me and started dragging me forward. There wasn't enough clearance underneath the car, so I was just being scraped along the road.

Me and my buddies were having fun with each other and we scared this little Morrocan dude. Who knows what was going on in his mind? But we didn't shoot him and we didn't file charges. His scare was punishment enough for his stupidity.

My beating by the car was punishment enough for my stupidity.

Are you into martial arts and things?
When i was growing up there was a sense of danger, people were getting mugged, beaten and all that stuff.
So i took up martial arts and im currently 5th dan,i was also a boxer (played 40 fights-won 32-lost 7)
Im still sort of crap though.

In the real world, you're going to lose about 50% of the fights you get into.

If your track record is better than that, you need to quit picking fights with girl scouts. :D

Possibly true, it helps being stronger than 99% of those out there and being somewhat of a self masacist being able to take pain ;)

Nope just big and able to take pain. Most run simply because of my size, that's the truth...Even those bigger than me get intimidated, dont' know what just the way it's always been.

I have had a few fights in my lifetime unfortunately. Mostly as a young kid though. In high school a kid was dropped back a year. So the next year he decided to try pick a fight with me. I would not bow down to him. One day, he just walked up to me and punched me in the face for no reason. It really hurt but I just walked away.

In another incident I was egged on by my schoolmates to fight this skinny and shorter kid because he got me into trouble in the school library. I ended up punching him a few times in the break but I felt terrible about it afterwards.

Nowadays, I hate fighting because it does not solve anything. Having the answers for all of life's problems today helps me cope with any angst against me. So now I try not to do things that will offend or provoke anyone. My family has benefited greatly from the change in me and that is the most important thing.

    Col :)

LOL! I think alot of it is aura too. I'm 6'0" and 190 lbs with a good build, but I'm not ripped. I come from rough circumstances though, and it shows. I find most men are intimidated despite my average size. Don't get me wrong though, I've won far more then I've lost, but I've lost some tough ones :D

I have probably lost more then that, but a lot fights I have gotten into has been me against more then one person, I don't even know if I would call most of them fights, that might more of a mugging/beating

funny one, one time this guy pulled gun on me on the dance floor of this club in NY, so I was like what are you going to do shoot me in front of like a million people, then he ran out of the club and a couple of my friends were outside saw him coming and tripped him, he hit the ground hand first and the gun broke into peices, its was freaking fake gun, got to be one of dumbest things that guy ever did.

I've thought about this a bit since yesterday. I started dividing the fights I could remember into two categories "fights I could not possibly have avoided" and "fights I probably could have avoided" -- and then something became very clear to me.

I could have avoided quite a few fights -- but I did not and I should not have. I did the right thing by not avoiding those fights.

I could have easily avoided the fight with the softball team. All I had to do was sit back and let what was going to happen happen.

I could have avoided a couple of fights with thieves I had caught. I could have just let them walk away. Would that have been the right thing to do? I don't think so.

I could have avoided another fight by not trying to keep a huge drunk guy away from my friend Becki. Would that have been the right thing to do? Probably not, but who really knows? That one could have gone either way.

I don't see any moral superiority in avoiding violence when violence is the appropriate solution. Do the right thing - whether it is running, crying, screaming, begging, or smacking some guy with a tire iron while he isn't looking. Choose the right solution for the current problem.
