Personally I would prefer to be premium and not worry about files being deleted, however I have to say it seems a bit silly to delete active files just 'cos they are 30 days (ish) old. Actually it's daft for both parties as active files are exactly what we all want, ie they generate income for us and the file host.
Surely deleting after 30 days of inactivity is a much better plan for everyone ?

    Well how about this:

    1. Oron pays for rebills
    2. Oron premium memberships are cheaper
    3. Oron does not have the server issues
    4. Website has no glitches
    5. You do not have to open up a premium account to keep your files alive after 30 days
    6. You do not have to open up a premium account to be an affiliate

So Oron is ALSO a business but charges the customers less but yet is still able to offer these things and on top of that answers their emails, probably because they have less complaints about the service. For me though like I said before is people want things easy and if they pay for something but then have to do a bunch of tedious stuff just to get what they want (jdownloader, etc.) then they will look for an easier solution and will not come back.

I will not comment on other file sharing sites' business model, because, well, that's their business. And it is up to you, as an affiliate, to chose the business model that's most suitable for you.

However, your statement about users who "pay for something but then have to do a bunch of tedious stuff just to get what they want (jdownloader, etc.)" is not accurate. JDownloader is just an option that some users may or may not use. Our download functionality is the core function of the site.

I'd also like to ask everybody to calm down on the issue of downloaders. It's only a matter of time before every downloader out there adapts to our site. This is something they need to do, and there's nothing technical that we need to do on our end, as far as we know. Again, we do absolutely nothing on our end to block legitimate downloaders. In fact, we have worked directly with a major downloader to help them adapt their code to our site, and we have contacted several others to do the same. Beyond that, I'm afraid that you're barking up the wrong tree, with all due respect.

This is an old rule. There is nothing new here, except a reminder we issued.

As I stated previously, there is the official policy (files deleted 30 days from upload), and the policy in practice (if your file is active, it will most likely not be deleted).

We were reconsidering a full change of policy, but we just wanted to issue a reminder to everyone so that they're not surprised when the old policy is applied.

So why not just affiliate with Oron instead of FileSonic. Why bother turning FSn into Oron when you can go straight to to original?

Obviously, there are options or benefits which you PREFER, which FileSonic provides, and which Oron doesn't. If not you'd just move to Oron, wouldn't you? I wager most folk would. I know I would. Instead, I suspect you are simply trying to cherry pick what you like best from both filehosts without considering any disadvantages that accompany any such benefits and/or options. There are trade offs for everything. I suspect you'd rather ignore this, to have your cake and eat it too so to speak.

Well, I'm not barking up any trees. I'm just stating facts and it is a fact that if people have to do too much to download something then they may not come back. For example IDM does not work for me and while it may work for some it does not work for me (it used to work) and others which is a problem. When I had the problem I had to choose right-click and save-as which was working but gave me a much slower download speed. Then for some reason that stopped working as well. That's when I started using Jdownloader. Then after tinkering with that I realized that you can only download 1 file at a time for it to work. So yes, these things will be tedious to a lot of people, though I know that some will be fine with the workarounds. For me personally I don't want to be forced to use Jdownloader but it seems I have no choice. I had friends ask me to upload stuff on other filehosts because they could not download and never had those problems with anyone else. I have a friend that is demanding his money back because he cannot download at all. It is because of all the complaints from people saying they could not download why I created the free Oron account until things get better with Filesonic. I'm just saying that it is harder to have repeat customers if they are not getting the service they expect, that's my main point.

Again, we cannot resolve issues related to downloaders ourselves. If a downloader requests help, we will gladly provide it. We have even gone as far as contacting them to offer help, but most haven't responded. At this point, it is up to them to shape up and implement our site in their code. You basically need to look at FileSonic as a new host they haven't integrated yet. There are dozens of other new file hosts that haven't been integrated. Perhaps you guys taking it up with IDM, as paying users, might help?

Some might point out that it was the change of download module that forced them to revise their code, but we had no choice but to change it. The amount of cheating, abuse and fraud in the old system was absurd. You have a lot of bad apples to thank for that situation.

Yup, there are always people like that who mess up a good thing and it ends up hurting everybody else. Never fails. Hopefully it won't be an issue for too long.

Really? Nope, I was well aware of your previous posts when I provided you with a different prospective from which to view your comments today. Whether or not you care to consider it is completely up to you.

What I said a few posts ago was that I created in free Oron account because people were having problems downloading my stuff so because of that I am affiliate of both. If you had known that you never would have asked me that question.

Yeah? Big f#(kin' deal! You then went on to cry "but....but....FileSonic needs to do it because Oron does....my Mommy says so." So why shouldn't I be suspect of your sincerity in claiming you only opened an Oron account "because people were having problems downloading my stuff." Reminds me of the guy who says "no offense but" before he insults someone then claims the "no offense" prelude negates his insult. Too bad. Your posts are what they are. Period. Maybe you should re-read them instead of whining that others haven't.

well, i think this new 30 days of file deletion rule is just an other way of FS to fuck users up again, why promise something you can't afford, telling people they have unlimited storage space and then come up with this new rule, why can't you do like any other new host around do and limit the storage so you can protect your HDD space, instead of forcing us to buy premium to keep our files, i've been following this thread from it's beginning and never seen this rule that you claim it was old been mentioned
