I've experienced big Google traffic decline in past 7-10 days even I got higher PR than I had before. Anyone else experience similar problem?

Is that due to PR and back link update is still in progress?

No, it more likely has to do with a slip in rankings. SERP positions aren't directly linked to PR and link updates (Its more of an inderict relationship)

A site of mine lost all google traffic after the PR update. Used to get a few hundred uniques a day from google, now a big 0.

It happens daily as the SERPs are updated constantly. There are also changes in the algo from time to time which produce more signifigant shifts.

PR, however, has nothing to do with it.

I find it kind of odd how a lot of people claim that PR has nothing to do with your position in search engines, and Google claims that it does.

Whenever any of my sites change in PR I notice a diff in Google traffic.

Where does Google claim that?

That statement is basically saying that Toolbar PR (which is what is updated every few months as actual PR is fluid) is a major factor in the algo. That a toolbar PR5 should outrank a toolbar PR0 regardless (or at least somewhat independant) of relevance.

So that pretty much answers it (well confirms it really) that SERP changes are gradual and don't shift as a result of a PR update

'Gradually baking in' - 29th/30th sept they flicked a switch, maybe they flicked it real slow.

One of my sites that has been pretty much top of its game for 4 years has rapidly dissapeared into the 100+ serps from positions 1 or 2 for my main KW's........Unfortunately there was no 'gradually' about it

On their basic page rank explanation page.

I know that your search ranking changes all the time, just saying that PR affects how you rank in searches, and I don't care about the toolbar PR, that's just for showing off when selling and trading links.

Probably just a fluke this time that one of my sites lost all google traffic at the same time as the PR update.

Me too, my site has PR up from 4 to 5 in this update but ranking fall down slightly from #18 to #23-25 in my niched competitives keyword. I've produced more original contents, find links, buy ads from some authority site. What happened???

Nah its no fluke, on seochat numerous sites have got nailed at the sametime they rolled out this PR update which 'apparently' has nothing to do with the search algo changes, they must have just flicked 2 switches at the same time or another G f*k up or Matt not aware that they used the PR update to roll out new serps data.........

As i said before there is a correlation seeing as how important linking is to both SERP placement and PR. It just isn't a direct correlation where the actual change in Toolbar PR directly affects your place in the SERPs for a given keyword.

Not sure I would quote SEOChat as a source lol

"Not sure I would quote SEOChat as a source lol"

Im not talking about PR reflecting rankings im saying that despite what Matt said, when this PR update was rolled out there was a big shift in serps for terms im watching - for whatever reason

I've noticed on Alexa that many other web sites declined in terms of traffic when this PR update was rolled out.

I am not sure if it is true, but I read (from an seo consultant told that
the way their algorithm is set up, page rank should account for about 40% of your site's ranking. The other 60% are fators such as anchor text, keyword density and relevance of links, etc.
