Come on Apo, the guy is a bit carried away but he can be condoned.
But now with so many people enjoying it, do you think so it is necessary to be so harsh? It's the big shame that can't be washed away (outright plagiarizing Shakespeare) with all the perfumes from Arabia but there are tasks to complete after the games end.

Ya maybe . I mean the games are just a "UK & Friends" for most of the world so that's a reason why I don't really look at them to highly . But the worst thing is that Delhi 2010 will never be a something to be proud off like Greece 2004 . Anyway what will wash some of the shame will be the lack of anymore incidents and probably in 10 years no one will care a single bit .

greeko, look at the current position of Greece, its crumbling and the EU has come forward to help else nothing is left to imagine

now getting back to the issue, people are going to forget about CWG with in a couple of months, may be some the ones who were affected by it or who were beneficial by this would remember this for long. If this sort of corruption carries too long u can expect a people revolt in India in near future. The worst part is the greedy politicians who fail to realize improving the nation is important than powers, start some or other controversy every now and then which actually makes the govt. disabled to carry out its policies :(

How does this gel with your ultra confident posture about EU (and NATO). Now you suddenly don't like to look at some British ritual highly!!

Well i have about 20 friend from the UK and in all the blabber over the years I've never heard them mention the commonwealth games . Not one, not even when they where drunk , they love soccer , rugby , cricket , they even bring up the Olympics every now an then but never the commonwealth games . In fact I've heard them mention the commonwealth . They care more about paki immigrants then the commonwealth .

Sometimes I wonder whether it's only me that thinks of UK as giving up on its self respect. Looking into their pre and post WWII history, they haven't had a consistent international policy. The only issue they are consistent with is following the US tag line without even bothering that it in fact is undermining the esteem of that erstwhile land where sun never set.

But this isn't methodical in my mind. So, I reconcile to it that it must be okay to side with your cronies and move on than non-aligning. (Remember the crap called non-aligned movement?) But look, they have their hands full too. All these years of pseudo-chauvinism and joining war against terror on mistaken priorities has brought home nothing but more trouble for them. They've got to wake up before it's too late.

Before it's to late for what ? UK is the diplomat of the modern world . If you want a negotiator you hire a Brit . They do have quite a firm stand on most of the issues of today but they always keep a undeniable flexibility .

They care more about paki immigrants, that is. I guess- only guess- that they may end up getting more bricks than bouquets. Considering UK is relatively an easier terror target than US is, they need to see why. Why? Because they joined US in their fight against terror? Or because they care more for Paki immigrants? Or because of duplicity of their policies? They need to check it now.

UK is a far tougher target then the US . Starting from the huge video surveillance network , to legions of policemen , to some of the best secret service agents (and no I'm not talking about 007 lol) and so on .

let's hope it is. but the spate of terrorist activities seems to outnumber that in US recently.

Unfortunately, government polices restricting the private ownership of firearms in the United Kingdom have caused violent crime in the UK to spiral out of control:

News: Australian athletes ransack Games Village in "revenge" for Australia's defeat in the cricket series against India. Damage includes broken furniture, ripped off electrical fittings and wirings, home appliances like fullsize washing machines thrown down by athletes from 8th floor and much more.

Australian High Commissioner calls it "just a spirited celebration".

Indian government to not take any action and has asked the police not to release the hooliganism captured on CCTV footage to avoid further embarrassment to Australia.

And these were the same people who were complaining about hygiene standards and security concerns..Imagine if the washing machine had fell on someone (another athlete?) , the entire Aussie contingent would be in prison and we'd be investigating a murder.

helvetti the aussie contingent might have been prison for not more than 30 mins, they would bring diplomatic pressure and get their ones released, you know how the things work in India and most of them are aware Aussie are bad losers
