Run it horizontally across the top just under the header, or put a vertical link unit in the top left where the main navigation usually is. Those are best in my experience.
under header as Carlito said or below/next to navigation menu if it's horizontal, however for me link unit pays less than text unit.
Yep blending and making them like a menu tricks many people i olso get some times tricked by this technique
Why don't you just make a big animated finger pointing to your ads and the text, "Click on my ads, I need a Porche!" Works for me.
am a little confused here , from what i know ... when a user clicks on link units , he is taken to a search results page on Google.com only. So if you put it jst beneath the menu , which normally says , eg. on a forum " home , Members Search UserCP " , the user easily understands he clicked a trick and goes back . isnt it ? He was not even looking to click on a topic , which might have been contextual , if it was a text link / image unit .
I find blending it with my top banner for the site works pretty well, if I have one. People seem to like/associate the vertical ad link unit with a menu, so it seems natural to put it near the top.
Generally, you'll need to do some experimenting to see what works best on your sites. It's just so different for each different site - some things will work and other things will bomb, but at least you'll gradually learn what works best for your readers. Take care, Christina
Problems with link units: 1) Too small 2) Too many clicks 3) Too little revenue Other than that, link units are great.
Blending them with 'thumbnail' images seems to work very well for me. I run a video site and I have thumbnails of funny looking videos. If you do this make sure you have text, something along the lines of 'Sponsored Links' above it, NOT 'OMG CHECK OUT THESE CUL VIDEOS!!!1LOL!!'
If your doing it on a forum have if under the nav bar (actually works with any horrizontal nav bar) so it looks like more nav bar links.
