Ok guys so basically, this is what happened to me. I have a Belkin surge protector which cost me around £35 (dunno how much that is in dollars but I'm guessing around 60 ish? Anyway, basically I had my iMac connected to it which cost me over £1200 and my computer had a surge! I know for sure it's a surge but my question is: Would I be able to claim any compensation from Belkin? Apple have collected my Mac and they will probably fix it but seriously, it like totally failed on me.
Don't Belkin offer some kind of insurance on their surge protectors? I know some companies make a big deal out of this in their advertising. http://www.belkin.com/claims/claims.asp Are you sure it wasn't a lightning strike down the phone line to your router, then into your LAN port? I've lost the onboard LAN on 2 motherboards due to spikes on the phone line, I eventually learnt my lesson and got a cheap phone surge protector.
