    I'm curious, mainly because I have never persued Google News, but are only certain kinds of sites suitable for Google News?... like "news sites"??

    More specifically, I am thinking about an NFL Football Team blog that is very new.... is that something that could be included?

    Nope. I check it after the article included in Google News. It's well writen. 3 anchor texts visible and dofollow. I gave choice 1 extra-ordinary keyword ( 300+ millions search competition ) and 2 more long tail keywords ( one is less than 500k search competition and another one around 3 millions search competition ). Both long tail keywords ranked No.1 in Google News.
