for me filehosting business is every minute counts, you dont wait for 48hours bec every minutes/secs there's someone downloading and being frustrated. if the link is not working with download manager they frustrated with the filehost not with the download manager bec its working with the other hosts. for downloaders point of view why would i bother to inform idm/jdlr about the problem i rather waste my time looking for the same file that i want just ask mr google with "file" +hotfile +megaupload +rapidshare. if they include the -filesonic everytime they search then its even worst

at the end of the day, dont wait for the download manager to adapt to you. 48hrs how many hundreds of sales you've just given to your competitor. just listen to VOC and you will know what to do

You are operating under the faulty assumption that FileSonic is the only host for which these guys have to update their code. The truth is they are constantly updating for all hosts, and I challenge you name a host that is not temporarily unavailable from time to time in the downloaders. RS, MU, FF, FileServe, just to name a few, have all been unavailable for periods within the past two months. To tell FSn "dont wait for the download manager to adapt to you" is a bit simplistic. FSn cannot write code to conform to a dozen or so major downloaders simultaneously (not to mention all the minor ones), it has to come from the other direction.

The only way to prevent this is for FSn to introduce a downloader, which I agreed should be done.

Some people seem to have trouble downloading as premium users (directly from the site). If any of you can volunteer to help us track this problem, we would really appreciate it. You must have Skype, ICQ or some other major Instant Messenger. If you would like to help us out, please PM me your IM details and I will have one of my tech guys work with you one-on-one.

    Thanks,
    FS-IT

i know that they update their code based on all host, my point is dont wait for the downloaders to inform them, be aggressive and inform them.

sorry i can not name a host, i only download from RS/HF and now fsc. how many years of downloading i didn't experience any problem with RS/HF with idm

    Hey,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience but our mail server had a problem, thats why affiliates haven't been receiving our notifications.. We're currently working on another feature that will be available in manage files, which tells affiliates what files got deleted.

    Thanks

As far as file deletions go is it 30 days after the last download or 30 days after upload regardless of activity? I can see if a file is never downloaded or sees no activity but older popular files still generate a lot of activity and sales. I think most other hosts are 30 days after the last download. That makes sense since it still gives lots of exposure to the host to have working files out there that are popular and downloaded frequently.

Also are you guys planning on putting a copy function like other hosts have? This is where you can make an instant copy of a file and share that link instead of the original. If the file gets reported and deleted all you have to do is make another copy instantaneously and share that one again. No need to keep uploading. I know fileserve has this great function as well as some other newer file hosts. Not sure about hotfile. This would save time and a ton of uploads on the servers.

My downloads are working now, so it was a server side problem.

I think we can all agree that the 24h support service is B.S

As far as deletion goes, if you're a free-user your file will be deleted in 30 days; of course exceptions are the links that get more hits than other; they'll stay alive a bit longer...

As for the copy function, it is already there in the file manager, you can copy and generate the link there.

    Rome

The current policy is 30 days from creation for free users. As an affiliate you can upgrade to premium for only $5/mnth and avoid any deletions. Fairly cheap price for peace of mind if you ask me.

FSn already has the feature. It has been in place since day one of the changeover.

Please PM me your user ID and a couple of links ure not able to download.

Unless the problem is only caused by the IDM you are using, then I would suggest Jdownloader as it is working like a charm :)

    Thanks,

Thats no problem at all, you just have to confirm that you're the website owner. If you're having trouble doing that, PM me your user ID and I'll make sure to take care of it.

banj0wood and Rome: Thanks for the info regarding the file deletions and copy button. I had no idea about the copy function. A great feature. Thanks again.

One other thing which I can't seem to find anywhere: What is the storage limit for free and premium users?

    Hi,
I can't connect anymore to my premium account, each time I try I get this message: "Unexpected error during process Authentication: - No user found with such email."
And when I was connected, I was unable to download files as a premium user (it only worked as a free user). That's why I cleaned my cookies to try to reconnect.

May I ask some help to Filesonic Support here?

    Regards.

    You're welcome!

As for the storage limit, there is none :) Uploading is free in terms of size, its the day limit that keeps control of things...
