Do you know of any plugins that produce video site maps?

 

I want to create a video sitemap for a video hosted on Vimeo but I have embedded it to my site? Can anyone help me??

You can download xml video sitemap plugin for wordpress and download the example xml file and plug in your vimeo video info and upload the site map to manually to the search engines.

I just installed the xml video site map for wordpress and found out that the description for my video's is the same thing as my titile.

I asked the guy who created the plugin how to make the description different from the title of the video and he said to make sure you edit the excerpts for the post. How do you do that?

Hello Ryan to edit the excerpt you simply add it when you are creating a wordpress post. It is the menu below the word count. Depending on what theme you have installed it could be even farther down the list. Simply expand the excerpt menu and add what you want.

So I am assuming what the author means is the descriptions is actually being pulled from the excerpt field. Strange if you ask me, must be a reason why they would do this... The title should pull the title and the description should pull the description not the excerpt.

Excerpts are just... that they give the reader a glimpse of a quote pulled from the article. I'm sure you knew that just wondering if the addon author knows that.

 

Great stuff Scotman. You da man. I agree that it doesn't make sense that the description is not pulled from the description of the post. EX. All in one SEO plugin.

After reading these FAQ, I understand more clearly than before.

 

This is pretty cool. However, what site is to be used for free generation of sitemap for my video sharing site? I ask this coz a video sharing portal is going to have hundreds of pages and many a tool available for free have this limit imposed for the number of pages on the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have WP blog and use plugin to generate sitemap. Shows sitemap is done. Google webmaster tools shows it under sitemap tab....But on home page of google webmaster it says I don't have sitemap? Any ideas how to fix this or does it take time. This is a new site and ooops I didn't notice how long it took with my other site.

Is there any way to find out which pages on your site are indexed and which are not indexed yet?

 

If you host videos yourself, A1 Sitemap Generator may work for you. Be sure to follow the video sitemaps tutorial. However, it only has a free trial. If you want to keep using it beyond 30 days, you will have to pay. (But no fixed limit on max pages or number of times or sites etc.)

I submitted my sitemap with 490 urls but all of the urls has not been indexed yet. Its approx 395 ulrs has been indexed.
Why it is.

 

Google has a set of guidelines for indexing. If a url does not meet those guideline it doesn't get indexed. It can take upto a month for all your urls's to be indexed. Take a close look at the url's not being indexed and make sure they are not fragmented. Check for 404 errors and other errors via Google Webmaster Tools.
