Interesting reading: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2010/05/27/once_upon_a_time_in_afghanistan?page=0,0 Thank you Islam! humanity's beacon of light! the source of justice, development and peace!
Beirut is really a similar story. It was once a major tourist attraction and was a jewel of the Middle East. Then, radical Islam took hold... Tehran isn't all that much of a different story. Hell, can you imagine how prosperous Malaysia and Indonesia would be right now if they had followed Singapore's model instead of implementing sharia based governments? Because of their abundant natural resources, which Singapore lacks, they would likely be far richer than Singapore!
That retarded mentality of this comment of yours wmghori is everything a man needs to see to understand why the Islamic world is such a terrible place. No matter when the Russians did in Afghanistan, it never was and never will be a good excuse for exploding the brains of women in what used to be the main soccer stadium for imaginary crimes. No matter when the Russians did in Afghanistan, it never was and never will be a good excuse for turning 6,000 year old buddha statues into rubble. and so on. In other words, the Islamic world is a living hell for its people (100 million of which already fled to a culture they despise but prefer a decent living), because people always look for something/somebody to blame for things which are their own fault, instead of taking their fate in their own hands. Another world champions in this retarded mentality are the Palestinians. Yup. And what we have instead? awinclark running porno sites and at the same time claiming that people who reject god should be severely punished...
If Islam worked, there would be thousands of American and European taxi drivers and convenience store clerks in Kabul and Tehran.
yeah once upon a time in middle East. I also remember before our revolution in 1979, Iranian women wore bikini swim in sea shore.
We had a nice novel Kabuliwala to study in high school. I still have fond memories of the protagonist, a man from Kabul. I was always longing for that class.
you should watch the move Kabuliwala (its based on the story by tagor, hopefully the same you are refering to) directed by tapan sinha. surely a classic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabuliwala
Sounds great. Hopefully I'll time travel some day to pe-1979 Iran, and also Afghanistan for that matter. PS: Thanks ChaosTrivia for that link. Very touching. Shared it on my fb wall trying to make more people read it.
Let me add Pakistan to this list. It's no different than all those. Again, why leave out Afghanistan too?
